Drafts Person at CTG

Overview of position

1. Purpose

Engineering Section in our client is mandated to carry out design, construction and maintenance of accommodation and office facilities for civilian staff and T/PCC’s. Engineering Section has the following units; WATSAN, Projects and Asset Management Unit, Infrastructure Management Unit and Planning and Design Unit. The drafts person will provide effective drafting services to the Engineering Section for overall operational and technical support.

2. Ultimate result of services

The draft person is required to provide drafting support to planning and design unit and Engineering Section, review and monitor plans. The drafts person will primarily work in Bamako and may be required to visit the regions and stay overnight there. The tasks include: –

• Drafting using AutoCAD; Drafting of horizontal, transitional, vertical works and other details as will be required using AutoCAD; monitor and update onsite changes to the plans; roads, bridges, airfields, helipads, railways, docks, waste disposal systems, flood control systems, water treatment facilities, and related structures and other engineering activities in the field needed for the logistics support of peace-keeping and other United Nations field missions.

• Assist in the drafting of infrastructure of super camps and smaller camps; preparation of quantities and specifications; carry out on site measurements and adjustments of plans;

• Participate in meetings as will be required; draft changes on plans; Attend and participate in design or pre-construction conference and other meetings as necessary to establish design parameters. Evaluates, reviews and revises project drawings.

• Interface AutoCAD with other programs for presentations and use in bidding documentation; prepare 3D models in AutoCAD or other programs;

• Evaluates, reviews and revises project drawings, and analyzes design drawings.

• Conduct on-site inspections / meetings to assist in clarifying technical design elements/ drawings as required. Performs other related duties as required.

3. Duration and Funding

Total anticipated duration of the contract is 6 months, allocated funds 39,600 and the funding source is 10985.

Provide professional detailed drawings on time and schedule. Analyze and advise on design, leading to timely completion of projects documentation in accordance with specifications and quality standards.

5. Qualifications and skills

Education

University degree or Diploma in Architecture or Civil Engineering (Diploma / Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in Architecture or Engineering. Proficiency in AutoCAD is a mandatory requirement. Relevant experience in an architectural or engineering office comprised of different engineering specialties such as Mechanical, Electrical, Construction, etc. Experience translating client’s concept project proposals to final designs and drafting on engineering procurements needs.

Work experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in engineering or related area. Qualifying years of experience are calculated following the receipt of the first level university degree recognized by the United Nations.

This role does not have any team management responsibility.
