About the role

As the Driver and Admin Assistant you will drive employees, visitors, and consultants when and where necessary and ensure the maintenance and safety of all office vehicles at all times, and to perform clerical duties in support of the efficient running of the office.

The key duties and accountabilities include:

  • Drive safely within the laws of Burkina Faso at all times and with respect for other road users pedestrians.
  • Act as driver for staff to carry out all official duties.
  • Drive Sightsavers staff to & from Airport where this service is not outsourced.
  • Keep vehicles in a clean condition inside and outside.
  • Check tyres, log books, tools, etc. and test drive each vehicle once a week.
  • Undertake routine maintenance of vehicles, including simple repairs.
  • Ensures vehicles are regularly serviced and advise the Administrative Officer when servicing is required and/or when defects/ problems arise.
  • Transact business with the banks on foreign currencies for staff related travels.
  • Maintain liaison with officials of immigration and embassies for staff entry visas and renewal of passports and work permits.
  • Assist in picking up invoices for procuring logistics.
  • General administrative duties

About you

As the successful candidate you will possess the level of the 3e class or an undergraduate study certificate (BEPC), have previous years’ experience as a Driver, and have written and spoken English and French skills.

Further requirements include;

Essential:

  • Admin experience
  • Full clean Driving license
  • Certification and experience in defensive driving
  • General knowledge of Burkina Faso and transport links
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Can travel in urgent situations.
  • Attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Experience with working with NGOs.

Next Steps

We anticipate that interviews will take place from 13 to 15 September and the evaluation process will include a 45 minute driving test, a 30 minute written task, and an oral interview all on the same day. You will be asked to bring your Driving Licence with you on the day.

The successful candidate will need to produce proof of the cessation of function in the event of resignation from a Public Service/Sector role, before starting this position with Sightsavers.
