Primary Purpose:
This position is primarily responsible for driving and maintaining CWS/RSC Africa vehicles to complete assigned errands on behalf of the organization.

Core Job Responsibilities:
Administration (60%)
- Drives CWS/RSC Africa – Field Office motor vehicles to complete assigned duties.
- Cleans and cares for official CWS/RSC Africa- Field Office vehicles.
- Conducts regular checks of vehicles to ensure that they are mechanically sound and in good working order and reports any problems noted to the Field Administrative Officer
- Provides safe transportation to and from field locations, meetings and other destinations for CWS/RSC Africa- Field Office staff and visitors on official business.
- Posts and collects mail, weighs, and affixes the correct number of stamps on letters and packages.
- Adhere to road safety regulations and ensure the well-being of passengers.
- Transports goods, equipment, and materials to working sites as needed.
- Ensures the secure loading and unloading of items, taking care to prevent damage.
- Familiarizes him/herself- with local geography and road conditions.
- Performs general clerical duties as may be assigned and which may include photocopying and packing supplies for field team travel.
- Conducts routine maintenance checks on vehicles including checking fuel, oil, and other fluids.
- Repairs minor mechanical problems on the CWS/RSC Africa-Field Office motor vehicles after confirming the same with the Field administrative Officer.
- Obtains quotations and makes simple purchases on behalf of the office and as per instructions by the Field administrative Officer.
- Ensures that the fuel level in each vehicle does not always go below half tank.
- Maintains effective communication with other staff members.
- Reports any issues or concerns promptly.
Record and Data Management (20%)
- Maintains accurate records of deliveries made to other offices in the CWS/RSC Africa delivery book.
- Maintains accurate records of trips, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Submits regular reports on vehicle maintenance and usage to the Fiel Administrative Officer.
Compliance (15%)
- Adheres to the Organization’s policies and guidelines related to vehicle use and safety.
- Ensures compliance with local traffic regulations and legal requirements.
Additional roles and responsibilities 5%
- Performs other duties, which are developed and assigned to improve the operations of the CWS/RSC Africa-Field office.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Two (2) years of driving experience is required.
Skills:
- Working knowledge of basic motor vehicle mechanics and required.
- Good working knowledge of driving in rural areas required.
- Good working knowledge of one of the following areas: Kabarore, Kirehe and Karongi preferred.
Education & Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Driving License Class B & D is a must

Special Requirements:
- COVID Vaccination is required for all successful candidates.
- The candidate should be in good health, willing and able to travel extensively in often difficult conditions and have a high degree of flexibility.
- This position is based in one of the following field Office areas (Kabarore, Kirehe, Karongi)
- This position requires the use of laptops/ Computers, competence in Microsoft office packages is required.
- This position may require travel in sub-Saharan Africa on short notice and under sometimes difficult conditions to meet the demands of a dynamic operational program.
- A valid Driving License Type B & C1 is required.
- Background check which includes references, educational and criminal check is required before the start of employment.
- A valid passport and the ability to maintain a valid passport throughout the entire appointment is required, which includes having enough passport pages for travel.
- Physical: This position requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, pushing/pulling, handling objects (manual dexterity), reaching above shoulder level, using fine finger movements, and lifting/carrying heavy loads.
- Environmental: Incumbents in this position will be exposed to excessive noise, marked changes in temperature and/or humidity, dust and infectious diseases, harsh weather climates, long work hours, bumpy roads, extended travel, excessive sun exposure, and non-ventilated spaces
