Background:

The purpose of the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program–Procurement and Supply Management single award IDIQ contract is to ensure uninterrupted supplies of health commodities to prevent suffering, save lives, and create a brighter future for families around the world. The IDIQ has four task orders that directly support the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), USAID’s family planning and reproductive health program, and USAID’s Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) program. GHSC-PSM provides health commodity procurement services and systems strengthening technical assistance that address all elements of a comprehensive supply chain. All four task orders are implemented in Nigeria.

GHSC-PSM works to support the USAID’s Health Population and Nutrition Office’s work in malaria, family planning, maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) interventions by increasing access to quality, lifesaving malaria, family planning, MNCH commodities thereby saving lives and improving the health of women, children, and newborns. The GHSC-PSM provides health commodity procurement services and systems strengthening technical assistance to drug management agencies and/or logistics management coordinating Units (LMCU) that address all elements of a comprehensive supply chain including procurement and contract management systems in three selected states.

This scope of work (SOW) sets forth the services to be provided by the Logistics Intern, DRF to SAII Associates Ltd/Gte, an associate company of Chemonics International Inc. in the implementation of the USAID Global Health Supply Chain – Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) in Nigeria. The objective of this billable short-term assignment is to provide logistics and administrative support for Drug Revolving Fund (DRF) related activities across five states.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Specifically, the Drug Revolving Fund (DRF) Logistics Intern will conduct the following.

· Arranging and coordinating DRF related activities

· Provide logistic support for the movement of activity related materials to designated sites

· Inspect training sites, hall, and hotel accommodation to ensure it meets specific activity requirements prior to training.

· Manage retirements, packaging activity-related materials, and manage the collation of activity-related means of verification

· Collaborate with GHSC-PSM Procurement, Office Operations, and Security teams on hotel assessment and selections for training and meetings.

· Provide daily quality checks on hotel services or activity related support services

· Collaborate with GHSC-PSM IT team on timely availability of training equipment such as printers, projectors among other items as may be needed for training.

· Manage courier and distribution related to DRF activities

· Provide administrative support for all DRF technical assistance related activities such as health facility mentoring, monitoring and supervisory visits, procurement and contract management warehouse level activities, and for other distribution activities

· Work with assigned consultants and trainers to facilitate their travel-related needs

· Support the development of routine activity reports writing for submission to the relevant program

· Perform any other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications and Skills

  • University degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Public Health, or other relevant fields.
  • Minimum of 1-year relevant work experience; experience in training logistics preferred.
  • Previous professional experience with international donor programs or NGOs is desirable.
  • Experience in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to contribute to work with colleagues in diverse cultures.
  • Ability to work independently and to accomplish various project tasks daily with minimal supervision
  • Computer literacy with demonstrated use of word processing, database, and presentation software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational, time management skills, and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing and communications skills in English required.
  • Ability to communicate in Hausa effectively in relevant states
  • Familiarity with culture and terrain in FCT, Ebonyi, Bauchi, Sokoto, Kebbi, and any other states as may be assigned.
  • Willingness to travel up across focus states and any other location as assigned

Supervision

The DRF Logistics intern will report directly to the MNCH Logistics Adviser or designee.
