- Water and Soils for Agriculture ( ASA ):
ASA develops the ASAvirtual model as the cornerstone of a Hybrid Extension System that integrates, complements and expands ASA’s successful field extension approach through leading technicians and promoters / farmers with the untapped potential of digital solutions and resources. Capacity development within the ASAvirtual system will be carried out on the basis of Virtual Courses with the same technical content as a Field School of Agriculture ( ECA ), and these are digital learning modules based on pedagogical principles and agronomic practices of conservation agriculture. The broader concept is based on developing six fundamental components:
- Virtual classroom ( LMS )
- Radio program
- Technical assistance system ( interactive voice IVR )
- Social networks ( Facebook – Twitter )
- An interactive virtual library ( ASApedia ).
- Managing the relationship with producers ( Producer Relationship Management or PRM )
- Post Summary:
The E-Learning Coordinator leads capacity development for the high-quality creation and maintenance of learning materials for the virtual classroom; also, generates ideas to improve appropriate educational materials for specific and scalable learning. This often involves spreading complex messages from conservation agriculture so that they become digestible components of information, so that they are supporting materials in a variety of formats. This position will work closely with the communications team and extension specialists of the ASA Program, as well as with several online learning consultants external to CRS.
- Post Responsibilities:
- Organize and direct the implementation of all assigned activities of the E-learning component as described in the detailed implementation plan in line with the principles and standards of program quality CRS, donor requirements and good practices.
- Ensure that learning adequately accompanies project activities throughout the project cycle. Analyze implementation challenges and report any inconsistencies and / or gaps to report adjustments to plans and implementation programs.
- Monitor and conduct ad-hoc inspections of various processes and resources at project sites to ensure timely implementation of project activities and adherence to established standard processes and procedures.
- Support and coordinate capacity development and technical support activities to ensure that assigned project activities are implemented in accordance with project guidelines and standards.
- Ensure that the appropriate documentation for assigned activities is complete with all required documents and filled in according to agency and donor requirements. Assist with the preparation of trend analysis reports and documentation of case studies and promising practices.
Specific responsibilities of E-Learning
- Assist in the collection, synthesis, organization of complex content from ASA specialists so that the respective documentation and research are carried out to incorporate the information in courses and other educational materials.
- Work with stakeholders to refine learning objectives and course scope; develop performance and learning objectives; and build the curriculum mesh and diagrams of online learning courses.
- Lead the creation of well-designed modules that integrate the use of appropriate ( video, graphics, text, animation, and audio ) media to optimize learning for target audiences. Modules / materials should be clear, concise, easy to follow, culturally appropriate, and formatted for self-learning, taking into account appropriate andragogy techniques.
- Coordinate the approval of the educational material before its launch, at the same time that strict deadlines are managed and a quality user experience is guaranteed.
- Write with a domain of different styles that match the modality and purpose of the presentation and with 100% grammatical precision.
- Perform prototyping and piloting phases, including User Acceptance Tests ( User Acceptance Testing or UAT ) when necessary.
- Manage ASA’s Virtual Classroom ( LMS ) and create a reporting mechanism with the IT manager.
- Assist in the development, management, and review of metrics and assessments, as well as the use of results to improve learning effectiveness.
- Assist in the development, collection, analysis and interpretation of metrics to assess the impact on the final goal of ASA, which is the adoption of ASA practices by farmers in the field.
- Explore the use of new technologies, apply them when appropriate, and help with technical solutions for online learning modules.
- Work in an innovative and creative way in the use of language, graphics, animation, interactions, audio and video.
- Background, Experience and Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Master’s or graduates in instructional design, pedagogy, higher education, online education, developmental communication or related areas.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with progressive levels of advancement and responsibility in similar positions related to E-learning, pedagogy, Learning and development etc. and a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience.
- Proven level of understanding of the principles of andragogy.
- Training and participation in content and copyright discussions, as well as Creative Commons licenses.
- Experience in developing learning frameworks, design and development of professional education initiatives and resources, in highly desirable formal and informal education settings –.
- Experience with interactive production and certification programs such as Greatly and Accredible, Adobe Creative Tools ( Photoshop, Publisher ).
- Experience with Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as other components and products to share information and collaboration, including Sharepoint and Teams, among others.
- Portfolio or samples of educational courses created online and in person.
- Knowledge of agriculture programs is highly preferable.

Foreign Language Required: Excellent verbal and written communication in Spanish. Intermediate English.
Availability to travel: Willingness to travel 40% to the project intervention areas.

Supervision: N / A
Interns: Reports and coordinates closely with Manager ASAvirtual program.
It is closely coordinated with members of the ASA Communications Team; and with Project ASA2, Directors, Country Links, ASA Technical Issues Managers, country communications specialists.
**External: ** Local partners ( government partners by country ), state institutions, international organizations, private companies, universities or other organizations with a financial execution role in ASA2.
