Education Coordinator At Save the Children

The Opportunity

The Education Coordinator will be the principal representative of the project and have leadership responsibility for the overall management of the assigned award, which will be implemented in coordination with public institutions. The project aims to develop and/or adapt content/modules for teacher professional development programs. The Education Coordinator is expected to provide strategic, operational and technical leadership to successful implementation of high quality, in coordination with other stakeholders. The Education Coordinator will ensure adherence to overall technical and programmatic quality in implementation, compliance with donor rules and regulations, and the timely submission of all deliverables, including work plans, budget forecasts, performance monitoring plans, and reports as required. The Education Coordinator will be responsible for the overall direction and coordination of the activities of any sub-recipient partners under the agreement in coordination with the project team. S/he will be expected to conduct regular visits to field visits as required.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

  • At least 5 years of experience in the field of education (preferably education-focused services for/with teachers).
  • Experience in project management (e.g. monitoring, reporting) and preferably teacher professional development programming.
  • Previous experience in working in coordination with government departments and local authorities (preferably previous working experience with MoNE).
  • A minimum of education in BSc/BA/BEng level preferably in Educational Sciences, but other fields such as Social Sciences, Development Studies or similar can also be relevant, or equivalent field experience.
  • Knowledge about development/adaptation and provision of teacher professional development programs.
  • Experience of and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability.
  • Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports.
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Able to work independently as well as in team to ensure timely results of high quality.
  • Capacity and willingness to be flexible in difficult working circumstances.
  • Able to travel to field sites where necessary.
  • Commitment to and understanding of child rights, the aims and principles of Save the Children, and humanitarian standards such as the Sphere Charter and the Code of Conduct. In particular, a good understanding of the Save the Children mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support.
  • Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English and Turkish, with experience in working with multicultural teams
  • Preferably knowledge and/or previous experience in providing trainings or capacity building programs on education-related topics including but not limited to the following: Teaching in Crisis Contexts (TiCC), inclusive education, classroom and student behaviour management, social emotional learning, psychosocial support, teacher well-being, and peer-to-peer support programming.
  • Preferably postgraduate level qualification in Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, or Development Studies.

Position holder will be based in Istanbul or Ankara, therefore legal right to work in Turkey is necessary at the time of application.
