Education Project Manager Burkina Faso Sahel At Norwegian Refugee Council

Context

Since 2015, Burkina Faso has been facing a multifaceted and complex crisis due to the increase in activities carried out by armed groups, intercommunity tensions, chronic food and nutritional insecurity, floods and violent winds. This security crisis affects all sectors of development, particularly the education system which is directly targeted by attacks, intimidation, killings and fires. This situation has forced a very large number of schools to close.

Between January 1 and October 31, 2023, more than 1,200,000 children were affected by the security context. Schools and educational personnel remain the target of these groups hostile to Western education.
