Responsibilities:

NORC is seeking an Education Specialist for the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Belize Quality of Education Assessment.

The goal of this project is to conduct assessments of key components of the education system in Belize to inform the final design and implementation arrangements for an Education Project aimed at addressing education-related constraints to economic growth.

The Education Specialist will provide support the assessment of data quality, institutional background knowledge of education sector, and conducting assessments of key institutional players in the education sector in Belize.

Requirements:

The Education Specialist must have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Possesses a bachelor’s degree in education, Economics, Public Administration, Law, Statistics, Research Methods, or in a related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the Belize education sector, either as an analyst, researcher, or as a ministry of education employee, preferably involved in implementing or proposing educational reforms.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the regulatory and institutional framework of the education sector in Belize.
  • Understanding of the challenges and barriers faced by vulnerable populations in accessing secondary and tertiary education.
  • Desirable experience working at various levels of the education sector, including authorities and officials of the ministry of education, teachers, principals, supervisors, or teacher unions.
