JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of the position is to ensure the quality of the implementation of the Education projects in putting together technical support that is aligned with the Technical Programme standards. This will be undertaken under the guidance of the technical education specialist.
Major Responsibilities
Ensure the quality of the implementation of the Education activities 40%
- Ensure that minimum standards of the Education are considered in all projects.
- Support the education specialists in providing technical expertise, quality assurance and support for WV education programmes (for both grants and Sponsorship), ensuring they are of high quality with reliable data and outcomes.
- Continuously follow up with Education field staff on their capacity building needs and report back to the specialists for needs to be integrated in the capacity building plan.
- Support the education/CP specialists in providing technical expertise, quality assurance and support for WV education programmes, ensuring they are of high quality with reliable data and outcomes.
- Coordinate with Technical specialist on developing project tools (Quality checklist pre and post Curriculum, placement tests…)
- Conduct regular observations in classroom and field level activities such (ECE-BLN Retention/catch Up and Unlock Literacy) provide recommendations to Program Manager, project Coordinators and technical specialist.
- Set meetings with the Program Managers and Coordinators to follow up on the implementation and to address the challenges they are facing.
- Assure all Pre and Post are conducted in all projects. (Both Children and Parental Component)
- Support the technical specialist in compiling the needed Education Curricula.
- Ensure that the referral mechanisms and policies are being implemented as per the standard.
- Prepare the schedule for the delivery of the curriculum and follow up constantly to make sure that timeline is respected in alignment to the general project timeline and deliverables
- Liaise with CP sector and participate in meetings information and capacity sharing to strengthen inter-sectoral linkages and integration.
- Support the CP sector in integration efforts through developing tools, guidelines and training materials including capacity building on CP related topics in Education.
- Monitoring and evaluating students’ learning achievements with the use of Pre and post tests.
Handle Capacity Building 30%
- Train and coach the staff on the Education curricula and approaches;
- Train the teachers and animators on the pre-approved curriculum that should be delivered, its objectives and expected learning outcomes
- Coach and build the teachers’ capacity in:
- Creating a conductive teaching and learning environment where the learners will get education according to the teaching standards and learning objectives set by World Vision Lebanon, including World Vision Lebanon’s Quality Learning Environment Framework;
- Preparing lesson plans on a weekly and monthly basis according to World Vision Lebanon s formats and in line with the learning overall objectives;
- Encouraging learner’s active participation and critical thinking
- Provide the education staff and partner staff with capacity building trainings based on classroom observations and development
- Contribute to donor reports and regular reporting on capacity building activities implemented.
- Prepare ToR for capacity building or other related activities including meeting with consultants and following up on the implementation plan and deliverables.
Ensure Adult and Child Safeguarding Policy 15%
- Work in compliance with and respect of the principles of Adult and Child Safeguarding and confidentiality, working with refugee and host communities with sensitivity
- Identify key protection threats affecting the children and raise them to the center supervisor.
- Identify safety issues and follow-up with the team Leaders on the safety and security of the chosen locations
Handle reporting and networking 10%
- Ensure that a monthly programmatic/technical progress report is submitted with recommendation to assure adequate implementation of all education projects.
- Ensure the implementation of all Technical tools to all Education projects.
- Attend related monthly / Bimonthly meetings
Perform other duties as required 5%
- Attend and participate in WVL’s spiritual nurture and other organizational events
- Responsible of own security and actively contribute to a positive security culture
- Report CP incidents as per the safeguarding policy guidelines.
- Abide by the security policies and procedures and report any incidents or breaches to line manager and / or security manager
- Perform other duties as assigned by Line Manager
Knowledge/Qualifications For The Role
- At least 3 years relevant experience.
- Bachelor degree in Education related field, (kindergarten studies, psychology, social work, specialized education (Orto-pedagogue, psychometrician, speech therapist… or social animation);
- Computer literate mainly in Microsoft Office package.
- Ability to train and coach staff, on Education technical packages including parental involvement.
- Knowledge and experience working with children,
- Knowledge of safety issues concerning infants and children.
- Knowledge of child protection and Social-Emotional Learning.
- Good interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Creative and able to come up, embrace and coordinate innovative thinking, and problem solving skills.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to cope and work under pressure.
- Willing to travel within Lebanon with a valid driver’s license
- Well-organized, self-motivated and ability to work in a team.
- Ability to work in difficult and high risk situations.
- High coordination skills
- Position requires availability and willingness to work outside regular office hours occasionally.
- Position requires willingness and ability to continue to function during a crisis situation, including during a World Vision response to a manmade or natural disaster.
