Focus on our DRC activities
Our mission in the DRC has existed since 2001. PUI is developing its integrated approach with primary health and malnutrition control projects. PUI is involved in Ituri with health and nutrition projects, and in North Kivu through an integrated emergency health and nutrition approach supplemented by food security activities.
And what about the Emergency Field Coordinator in all this?
As a Field Coordinator, you will be responsible for the proper functioning of the base and the proper implementation of the programs developed on this base. To this end, your responsibilities will be as follows:
- Security: You will be responsible for security on the base
- Programs: You will coordinate teams and ensure the proper implementation of programs on the base, under the supervision of your direct line manager.
- Human Resources: You will supervise all base teams, national and international staff.
- Logistical, administrative and financial monitoring: You will supervise the logistical, administrative and financial aspects on the basis for the implementation of the programs, and you will ensure compliance with the related procedures, with the functional support of the Logistics Coordinator, and the Administrative and Financial Coordinator of the mission.
- Representation: You will represent the association with partners, authorities and various local stakeholders involved in the base’s intervention zone.
- Coordination: You will centralize and disseminate information from/to the base and consolidate internal and external reporting of activities implemented in the intervention zone before transmitting it to your direct hierarchical manager.
- Evaluation/Strategy: You will participate in the development of the strategy and propose new interventions based on the needs identified in the intervention area.
The challenges that await you
The major challenges of the Emergency Field Coordinator position are as follows: 1) the review and harmonization of the PUI RRM strategy in Health/Nutrition to adapt it to the current context of the DRC (temporality of interventions, entry and exit criteria, etc.); 2) Optimize the responsiveness of the emergency team by constituting a complete mobile team that can deploy quickly and autonomously (program staff and support staff) by positioning itself on humanitarian alerts in PU intervention areas; 3) Monitor, analyze humanitarian alerts across three provinces in eastern DRC (North Kivu, South Kivu and Ituri) and propose an intervention strategy in line with the PUI country strategy and the donor strategy; 4) Plan and conduct Multisectoral Rapid Assessments (MRA) and size the rapid intervention according to the needs identified (programmatic, logistical, administrative and financial planning); 5) Participate in the coordination meetings of the rapid response mechanism in eastern DRC to maintain PUI as an emergency actor in Health/Nutrition
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Training : You can demonstrate a higher education qualification (min. Master 2 or equivalent) in a field related to humanitarian action: project management, technical training related to one of our sectors of intervention, human resources management, financial management, etc.
Experience: You have at least one year of field experience in an international NGO, in project coordination. Experience in expatriate team management, project management, and security management is highly appreciated. Have you already held the position of Field Coordinator or equivalent in an international NGO? This will also be valued. Have you already worked with Première Urgence Internationale? This will be an undeniable asset!
Skills : You are proficient in humanitarian project management and team management, you have a good knowledge of the main donors. You have excellent writing skills.
Required qualities: You demonstrate good interpersonal skills, ease of communication, both written and oral, and you have a taste for teamwork. You demonstrate leadership and decision-making skills, reliability and a sense of responsibility, rigor and organization, responsiveness and adaptability. You have excellent resistance to stress and an ability to work under pressure.

PUI will offer you
- **Status:**Fixed-term contract executive
- Gross monthly salary: 2,650.00 – 2,970.00 EUR depending on your experience in international solidarity + 50€ per semester of seniority with PUI

- Break scheme: 5 working days at 3 and 9 months of mission + break bonus
