JOB SUMMARY
MedGlobal is seeking an Emergency Response Coordinator to plan our responses to natural and manmade emergencies across the globe, to manage their implementation, and to evaluate their impact. The candidate must be flexible: able to work weekends, holidays, and/or evenings to address emergencies rapidly. The candidate must be comfortable managing all aspects of an emergency response from project design through evaluation, including marketing, fundraising, procurement and logistics, partner relations, and other tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan emergency response projects
- Monitor humanitarian websites, health clusters reports for information on new emergencies
- Complete needs assessment through communication with local organizations (NGOs, hospitals, Ministries, etc.) and stakeholders
- Identify potential sources of funding, including in-country donors
- Launch fundraisers in collaboration with communications and fundraising teams
- Identify local implementing partners and, if needed, local human resources
- Write project proposals, grants, and project management plans
- Design Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) plan in collaboration with M&E department
Manage response implementation
- Remotely monitor local implementing partners progress compared to the project work plan
- Coordinate and collaborate with in-country field teams where appropriate
- Manage partner relations throughout implementation
- Ensure M&E plan is being implemented
- Identify creative solutions to logistical challenges
- Provide project updates to MedGlobal leadership
Evaluate response impact
- Collect deliverables from local implementing partners
- Manage M&E data collection and reports review, and analysis
- Compare data to project objectives
- Draft project report and lessons learned
- Identify additional needs that could be addressed by future projects
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- 5+ years of experience supporting international NGO emergency responses
- Strong skills working with a variety of systems and technologies, including but not limited to G Suite, Slack, Microsoft Office, and KOBO Toolbox
- Ability to work independently, quickly problem solve, anticipate challenges, and handle data with confidentiality
- Exceptionally skilled at managing multiple tasks simultaneously, allocating and optimizing resources, and managing timelines and tasks from start to finish
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- English required
- Arabic beneficial
- Comfortable conversing with individuals from diverse social, cultural, economic, religious, racial, ethnic, and other backgrounds
- Able to work evenings, holidays, and/or weekends as needed
