Are you an experienced networking and relations building officer who is looking for a great job which creates impactful jobs for youth in fragile states? We are SPARK and look for a new colleague who has a passion for networking and relationship building. Somebody who has an existing network in Brussels and keen on promoting our SPARK work with existing and new stakeholders. With that, you identifying future funding opportunities and developing proposal with your SPARK colleagues across the world.

You will represent SPARK at EU institutions promoting our work and liaising with EU institutions, notably the EU commission, permanent representative missions to the EU, the European parliament as well as opinion leaders and think tanks. You will not start from scratch; approximately 30% of SPARK’s current funding is coming from EU sources. You are responsible for identifying additional public funding streams (mainly European funding), and assist with writing and submitting proposals. You contribute to the dissemination of lessons learned from SPARK programmes and ensure policy implications of SPARK programming are discussed with the relevant Brussels based stakeholders. With this, you to increase SPARK’s visibility amongst development organisations in Brussels.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to developing SPARK’s funding strategy and identifying new funding opportunities;
  • Liaise with other SPARK colleagues across the world to develop project ideas and proposals; coordinate researchers and partner’s contributions to projects; coordinate with SPARK’s Communication Team for the dissemination of project results (e.g. publications, events);
  • Create, foster and maintain good relationships with partners and funding authorities in Brussels;
  • Expand the EU delegated cooperation possibilities;
  • Liaise under the new EU-Gulf Cooperation strategy and SPARK strategy;

Requirements and Skills:

  • Full understanding of, and personal existing network of EU institutions in Brussels;
  • At least 4 years working at a senior level dealing with EU-institutions in Brussels.
  • Track record in fundraising in the non-profit sector, in the Brussels environment;
  • Knowledge of European funding programmes and tendering; sound knowledge of the European Programme Management.
  • Having worked as an assistant to a member of the European Parliament is highly desirable;
  • Excellent networking and information analysis skills
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to work independently. The position requires results-oriented approach.
  • Inter-personal and communication skills in a multinational context;
  • Excellent drafting skills, including on economic subjects. Good knowledge of project development.
  • Excellent communication skills in English: verbal and written; knowledge of other EU languages are an asset.
