Brief summary of services: Action Against Hunger UK is recruiting an evaluation/research consultant. This consultancy opportunity will support an evaluation of a humanitarian programme implemented by an external stakeholder. Depending on the security context, the consultant will conduct one-to-one in-depth telephone interviews or in-person focus group discussions (FGDs), with people and communities affected by crisis in Sudan.
Person specification
- Experience conducting qualitative research (both FGDs and interviews),
- Experience of conducting evaluations of humanitarian interventions,
- Knowledge of the humanitarian context in Sudan,
- Fluency in Sudanese Arabic,
- Fluency in English,
- Ability and willingness to travel within to Sudan – but only to areas where there is mutual agreement that they are safe.
Deliverables:
- Data Collection (5 days): Conduct qualitative research with programme participants. The current plan is to conduct two in-person focus group discussions – one in Gedaref and one in White Nile. For the remaining six intervention areas, 12 telephone interviews will be conducted –i.e. one male interviewee, one female interviewee in each state.
- Analysis and Reporting Phase (2 days): Do thematic analysis of transcripts (FGDs and KIIs).
