Call for Applications: Event/Training Coordinator for a USAID-funded project in Uzbekistan

The East-West Management Institute, Inc. (EWMI) invites applications for an Event/Training Coordinator with its Judicial System Strengthening Activity (JSSA) in Uzbekistan, a four-year project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented until September 2025. JSSA is divided into three components: Component 1 will strengthen the administration of justice by improving court and case management; Component 2 will strengthen the professionalism of the judiciary through enhanced training initiatives, and Component 3 will strengthen public trust in the judiciary. The following is a full-time, long-term (until September 2025) position based in Tashkent, beginning immediately. The position is open only to persons eligible to work in Uzbekistan.

Overview / Objective

The Event/Training Coordinator is in charge of logistics (e.g., choosing locations, hiring caterers, etc.), coordinating with vendors, and other administrative support to ensure successful trainings and events, in line with USAID and EWMI rules and regulations. During trainings/events, the Coordinator is typically on-site to act as supervisor, handle client requests, and communicate with service providers. The Coordinator will report directly to the Deputy Chief of Party. The Training/Event Coordinator also supports JSSA’s Training Specialist/Monitoring, Evaluation, and Leanring (MEL)Coordinator in managing training data. The Event/Training Coordinator reports to the Deputy Chief of Party.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support evening planning from the beginning through to the end, according to project requirements, target audience, and objectives;
  • Conduct market research, gather information, and produce detailed proposals for events (including timelines, venues, suppliers, etc.);
  • Support the Operations Manager in procurement of event-related goods and services (contacting vendors, advertising requests for proposals/quotations, evaluating offers), while ensuring compliance with EWMI and USAID rules and policies;
  • Manage and coordinate suppliers and all event logistics (e.g., venue, catering, travel, scheduling, etc.);
  • Manage all event set-up, including ensuring necessary equipment setup, material preparations, room configurations, internet and IT connections, etc.;
  • Ensure the event runs smoothly and resolve any problems that might occur;
  • Prepare and print training materials and handouts before the event;
  • Arrange the registration of participants for each day of the event;
  • Support the Training Specialist/MEL Coordinator in conducting training surveys, pre-and-post evaluations, and other data collection tools, and aggregating data collected from the participants;
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or public relations is preferred;
  • At least three years’ experience as an Event Coordinator or Organizer;
  • Experience planning, organizing, conducting, and evaluating events in a variety of formats, sizes, and audiences;
  • Experience supporting events for international organizations a plus; experience with U.S. government-funded projects and policies highly desired;
  • Excellent organizing and coordinating skills; excellent attention to detail and ability to quickly troubleshoot and problem solve;
  • Good time management and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 proficiency (SharePoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Fluency in Uzbek and Russian is required; English is preferred.
