Danish Refugee Council in Libya, is currently looking for a highly qualified EORE project manager who has to implement and maintain oversight of Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) activities within the Tripoli AO in Libya. This includes the training, education and awareness of Explosivw Remnants of Wars (ERW) and safe behavior, resulting in reduced risk-taking behavior within the conflict-affected communities

The main duties and responsibilities of the EORE Project Managet will be:

  • Initiate, plan and coordinate EORE in targeted communities.
  • Prepare regular work plans and reports;
  • Provide assistance to Area Manager/Operations Manager in producing concept notes and proposals
  • Ensure that all reports from the field are properly completed and submitted in a timely fashion;
  • Carry out needs assessment, baseline surveys, and data collection in the field
  • Liaise and maintain good communications with local authorities, community leaders, partner organizations, and stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of the EORE activities;
  • Supervise / Support the teams and ensure that the activities are carried out in the field;
  • Conduct regular Quality Assurance (QA);
  • Keep monthly records of EORE teams’ progress and activities
  • Conduct training for EORE operators/facilitators, central people in the communities, etc.; Maintain good relationships with other mine action interventions in the area including those involved in survey, marking and clearance to ensure good coordination and shared knowledge.
  • Oversee the design and printing of IEC materials in coordination with the Libyan Mine Action Center (LibMAC).
  • Manage funds as required.
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as required by their Line Manager.

About you

Required

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in EORE within humanitarian mine action programmes
  • Bachelor’s degree in the fields preferably sociology/social science/teaching
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in EORE within humanitarian mine action programmes
  • Excellent knowledge of EORE project implementation and community support activities.
  • Excellent knowledge of Mine Action Standards and the first aid.
  • Knowledge of IMSMA and Base Camp Garmin. Other GIS software is an asset
  • Computer literate, MS Office and DRC Dynamic
  • Ability to develop EORE materials in line with the country context.
  • Fluent in English both spoken and written

Desirable

  • Prior experience working within an HMA NGO is an asset
  • Ability to work away from home for extended periods
  • Knowledge of Arabic is an asset
