The Opportunity
The Regional External Communications Senior Officer, Asia is an important member of the Asia Regional Advocacy, Campaigns, Communications and Media (ACCM) team, which ensures that Save the Children’s work in the Asia-Pacific region has a high public profile and works to strengthen Save the Children’s brand recognition in key markets across the region.
This post plays a very important role in contributing to the organization’s ambition of creating a “movement of millions” of supporters through strengthening our reach and engagement in Asia. The post-holder will achieve this through consistently strategic, coordinated efforts to develop high-quality content and activities on the organization’s digital and social media channels in Asia, promoting prioritized campaigns, and positioning Save the Children as the leading independent child rights organization in the region. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the ACCM team is expected to work on prioritised responses and to vary working hours accordingly, including support from this post.
Key Responsibilities
Support to Country and Members offices in Asia-Pacific region (30%)
- Ensures technical support and guidance to develop and disseminate high quality, effective and creative products to increase engagement on digital and social media in support of raising brand profile, global & regional campaigns as appropriate.
- Support regional teams to strengthen capacity for external communications, digital and social media teams to meet global and regional best practice policies and standards, social media policy and best practice brand & design guidelines, child safeguarding including ensuring such social media policies and guidelines are maintained.
- Work with global content creative unit, global media and regional media team to coordinate gathering of case studies and content with country offices from programs or responses for integrated mediacomms for global/ regional /country use.
- Support website upgrade and maintenance for country teams & social media channel management support including creating, scheduling, analysing content posted on country Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok & LinkedIn platforms.
Prioritized Emergency Communications (30%)
- Supports design, coordination and timely internal and external delivery and dissemination of quality case studies and content including photos, brolls, blogs as per best practice humanitarian prioritised response comms guidelines & global brand guidelines
- Ensures support for capacity building, training or hands on content gathering support for country offices on design and delivery of timely and quality communication products during emergencies at country level
- Possible deployment at short notice for emergency responses to lead / coordinate content and social media work for fundraising purposes
Content planning and development (20%)
- Develops and delivers strategic external communications and social media plans and content for global and regional advocacy and campaign priorities on hunger and climate as per strategic priorities, within global brand guidelines.
- Supports the development of innovative, high engagement content to contribute to regional influencing strategies and projects as appropriate to strengthen engagement with audiences , support child participation work and grow share of voice in the region.
- Ensures the monitoring of social media campaigns through social listening platform for audience insights and reporting against campaign indicators for a culture of evidence based communications, innovation and cross-learning.
Regional Internal Communications (20%)
- Maintains high profile of Asia ACCM work on global and regional internal channels by ensuring visibility of Asia highlights on Workplace , Global and Regional newsletters
- Steps in for external & internal representations and support of engagement activities for global and regional campaigns and communications priorities as needed.
