Female Tailoring and Dressmaking Trainer At Ghiras Al-Nahda

General Description of the Organization:

Ghiras Al-Nahda is a Nonprofit Non-governmental humanitarian organization working to empower people through fulfilling their basic needs and seeking to improve community stability and resilience.

Background to the Assignment

The ” Female Tailoring and dressmaking ” course aims to provide participants with foundational skills and knowledge in the field of tailoring and fashion design, enabling them to create innovative and appealing clothing items.

Scope of Work

The trainer will be responsible for:

  • Developing a comprehensive course curriculum including lesson plans, exercises, and learning materials.
  • Delivering interactive training sessions that cover the basics of tailoring and design techniques.
  • Guiding participants in designing and sewing simple clothing items.
  • Offering advice on appropriate fabric selection, tool usage, and equipment.
  • Providing hands-on support to participants during garment projects.
  • Collaborating with program management to incorporate feedback and improve the curriculum.

The training aims to achieve the following objectives:

The primary objectives of this course are to:

  • Introduce participants to professional tailoring concepts and techniques.
  • Develop participants’ skills in designing and sewing clothes.
  • Enhance participants’ creativity and design thinking.
  • Provide participants with a fundamental understanding of fabric selection, tools, and sewing equipment.

Key Deliverables:

  • The trainer will prepare training materials/agenda/contents/sessions of the training and submit these at least one week before the start of the training.
  • The trainer will facilitate the preparation of training follow-up and action plan.
  • After the completion of the training, the trainer will share a comprehensive training report in the agreed format within 10 days after the completion of the training.

LOCATION:

The training will be delivered in a training center in Dana.

TIMEFRAME

This is a short-term assignment for individual trainers for four months (with the possibility of extension) divided into two phases as follows:

Phase one: Providing VT:

10/March/2024 till 09/May/2024.

The trainer is expected to provide VT program theoretical and practical parts in the training center for five days per week, five hours per day. The trainer is expected to provide a training report for this phase.

Phase two: mentoring, and coaching:

01/July/2024 till 31/August/2024.

The trainer is expected to provide the needed support, supervision, and coaching for the trainees by conducting field visits (on-site). The trainer is expected to provide a training report for this phase.

It is possible to adjust the mentioned timeline according to the project implementation circumstances.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

The trainer should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Fashion design-related certificate or at least five years’ experience in tailoring and training.
  • Proficiency in tailoring techniques and design fundamentals.
  • Teaching or training experience in tailoring and fashion design.
  • Ability to guide and motivate participants in skill development.
  • Knowledge of tailoring materials, tools, and fashion fabrics.
