The USAID-funded Clean Cities Blue Ocean (CCBO) project in the USA, implemented by Tetra Tech International Development, is currently accepting expressions of interest for Field Coordinator. This position will be located in Paita, Peru.
The Field Coordinator will be responsible to contact the local partners and to coordinate with the public and private sector to mobilize resources that contribute to improved SWM/R in Paita.
Responsibilities:
*Provide technical assistance to the Provincial Municipality of Paita to improve the solid waste management and recycling (SWM/R) system, promote the 3Rs and strengthening markets for recycling and reuse.
*Promote, accompany and monitor compliance of the plans agreed with the local government.
*Prepare technical documents related to the improvement of solid waste management in Paita, in coordination with the CCBO Peru´s Solid Waste Management Specialist.
*Contribute to the application of the Solid Waste Capacity Index for Local Governments (SCIL) in Paita in coordination with the Capacity Building and Governance Manager of CCBO.
*Organize and support training for local government officials and other local stakeholders (public and private) on issues related to proper solid waste management, promotion of good practices and recycling.
*Support the organization of forums, events, awareness campaigns and other activities that promote behavioral change in citizens for the sustainable management of waste, recycling and reuse.
*Coordinate with cooperating agencies´ representatives that are implementing activities at Paita to establish strategic alliances and synergies that contribute to the implementation of the actions of the CCBO program.
*Monitor and accompany CCBO Peru´s local grantees and subcontractors in the implementation of the activities in Paita.
*Maintain regular communication with the CCBO Lima Country office.
*Act as local Coordinator of Máncora when required.
*Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
*Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in environmental, industrial, chemical, or sanitary Engineering, biology or public policy.
*At least 5 years of experience in solid waste management.
*At least 3 years of experience working with local or regional governments.
*Proactivity, creativity, collaboration, adaptability, emotional intelligence, and problem-solving skills.
*Ability to work under pressure and in teams, proactive and resourcefulness.
*Peruvian nationals are strongly encouraged to apply.
