Purpose of the role

To support scientists in mass rearing of invasive pests and their parasitoids and predators, to carry field trials and assigned experiments.

Key accountabilities:

  • Undertake field collections of FAW for parasitoids.
  • Rear and maintain the colonies of FAW and natural enemies following standard protocols.
  • Undertake field trips for demonstration plots in communities, data collection, monitoring and reporting.
  • Collect and record data for scientific research and maintaining a proper data retrieval system
  • Generate reports for both internal and external use.
  • Ensure that laboratories are clean and well maintained.
  • Participate in surveys related to biocontrol in Zambia.
  • Working collaboratively with partners on projects.

ABOUT YOU

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in entomology/agriculture or related field from a recognized University. This may be waived if the candidate is a diploma holder from a technical college, but with specific experience in carrying field research and data collection.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with field trials and data collection is a mandatory requirement.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A team player with ability to maintain harmonious working relationship with colleagues.

Duration: 3-year contract; Renewable
