Present in Haiti since 1996, MdM Canada implements humanitarian and development projects in the departments of Ouest, Nippes and Nord-Ouest. Its operations primarily target access to primary health care, sexual and reproductive rights and health, response to epidemics (cholera) and mental health.

OUR CHALLENGE

Attached to the Department of International Operations (DOI), you will work under the authority of the Head of Mission of Haiti, in functional link with the Director of Finance and Administration at headquarters and in close collaboration with the financial controller and the financial analyst at headquarters. You will be the hierarchical superior of the accountants and the administrative and human resources of the mission.

You will support and coordinate the accounting and administrative services of the Médecins du Monde Canada (MdM) Canada mission in Haiti and will be the guarantor of compliance with the administrative and financial procedures of the mission.

Your main tasks will be as follows (non-exhaustive and evolving list):

  • In collaboration with the project coordinators and the head of mission, ensures adequacy between the financial and administrative needs of the mission in general and the projects in particular;
  • Conducts the internal diagnosis of the finance and administration department, develops appropriate tools if necessary and ensures their implementation;
  • Depending on the requirements of donors and sound management practices, develops, standardizes and ensures the application of procedures, including the processing and verification of documents necessary for planning and financial monitoring;
  • Supports and supports project coordinators in the implementation and financial monitoring of project activities with regard to accounting and administrative aspects;
  • Ensures the harmonization and application of the financial and administrative policies of Médecins du Monde Canada for projects in Haiti with the aim of their constant improvement;
  • Ensures good management, supervision and evaluation of the people under his responsibility;
  • Organizes, if necessary, capacity building workshops for the accounting and administrative team in Haiti.
  • Performs any other task required within the framework of his duties and the proper financial and administrative functioning of the mission in Haiti.

OUR OFFER

  • Unaccompanied expatriate position based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti
  • 2 year contract renewable as soon as possible
  • Remuneration according to the MdM Canada salary scale (from $68,000 to $92,000CAD)
  • Monthly expatriation allowances according to MdM Canada policy
  • Rest period (R&R) according to MdM Canada policy
  • 4 weeks of vacation per year

  • Accommodation in individual apartment

YOUR PROFILE

  • Postgraduate university degree in accounting, administration, human resources or any other related training
  • Proven experience in relevant functions related to the position within an international NGO in the field (salary enhancement based on 5 years of experience)
  • Technical knowledge in finance and administration (budget management, accounting, human resources)
  • Experience in supervision and team leadership (patience, diplomacy, listening skills and teaching)
  • Very advanced knowledge of Excel and knowledge of SAGA accounting software an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication in French (Creole and English an asset)
  • Great ability to prioritize, synthesize, adapt, live and work in a team and manage stress
