About the Consortium and the Program

The Countering Hate, Furthering Rights is a Consortium running a regional programme in Africa that has as its overall objective to further SRHR, with a special focus on inclusion and non-discrimination.

The Programme Office based in Nairobi, Kenya will be responsible for programme management and coordination, thematic and technical support, financial management and compliance. The Programme Office will comprise of the Programme Coordinator, who will manage and coordinate the programme, take operational decisions, and consolidate reports; A Thematic Advisor who will provide thematic and technical support to consortium members and grant recipients, and monitor implementation of the programme; A Finance & Compliance Officer who will manage finance, coordinate reporting and audits, and ensure compliance with financial policies and regulatory requirements.

Working alongside human rights actors, the Consortium is seeking a diverse team of persons with relevant experience to fill the three positions of; Programme Coordinator, Thematic Advisor, and Finance and Compliance Officer.Therole and minimum requirements of the Finance & Compliance Officer are detailed below:

Finance and Compliance Officer

Main role

The Finance and Compliance Officer is a critical role responsible for overseeing the financial operations and compliance of the Countering Hate, Furthering Rights programme. This includes managing programme budget and finances, ensuring compliance with internal and external policies and regulations, coordinating and consolidating financial reporting and audits, supporting financial and compliance capacity development of partner organizations and third parties, and facilitating effective programme implementation. Under the coordination of the Programme Coordinator and in close collaboration with the Thematic Advisor, the Finance and Compliance Officer will ensure that financial operations support the overarching goals of the programme*.*

Qualifications and experience required

  1. University degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or other related fields.
  2. Professional accounting or finance certification such as CPA, ACCA, etc.
  3. Minimum 5 years related work experience.
  4. Experience of financial management of organisations in the human rights and development field and internal cooperation.
  5. Experience working with ICT systems and grant management.
  6. Knowledge of human rights and SRHR issues in various parts of Africa.
  7. Work experience from regional programmes and funding from a variety of donors.
  8. Ability and knowledge of using multiple currencies
  9. Solid experience consolidating financial reports involving multiple exchange rates.
  10. Ability to work effectively and under pressure.
  11. Good interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.
  12. Professionalism, energy and integrity.
  13. Excellent writing skills.

General requirements for all candidates

  • A right to work in Kenya either as a citizen or position of a residence and work permit.
  • Ability to travel regionally and internationally (have valid passport)
