Finance and Logistics Assistant At Sightsavers

Sightsavers implements projects in over 30 countries in Africa and South Asia working to eliminate avoidable blindness and promote the rights of people with disabilities. We are looking for two Finance and Logistics Assistants, one to be based in Kebbi State and one to be based in Zamfara State, to work closely with the NTD Programmes team to assist in the effective implementation of programmes.

Contract: 12 months fixed term contract

About the role

The position of Finance and Logistics Assistant will build on your existing experience of programme financial monitoring within an NGO/INGO. As the Finance and Logistics Assistant, you will work directly with the Finance Team, the Compliance Team and state Programme teams to ensure programme implementation is done effectively and that all field expenditure is done in accordance with donor requirements, generally accepted accounting principles and Sightsavers policies. The Finance and Logistics Assistant will assist in a wide range of tasks which the team undertakes in the implementation of the project.

Finance and Logistics Assistant duties and accountabilities include:

  • The development and documentation of the project implementation plans.
  • The documentation, filling and archiving of documents (programme, monitoring and financial reports) in appropriate storage filling methods.
  • Innovative implementation of activities for programme delivery and achievement of organisational objectives.
  • Arranging and coordinating programme meetings and activities, also ensure reports are written and submitted within the expected timeframe.
  • Preparation of payment vouchers, cashbook and bank reconciliation statement, partners financial report and donor report.
  • Periodic verification of physical assets, bank transactions and collection of bank statement.
  • The gathering/photocopying of supporting documentations for payment vouchers and coding and filling of payment vouchers in arch file accordingly.
  • The process payment to vendors, per diem and transportation for participants during field activities.
  • Tracking and following up on all outstanding advances to ensure timely retirement.
  • Logistics for activity preparation and travels.
  • Compliance and risk management.

Jobholder Requirements

  • A Degree/Higher National Diploma or equivalent in Finance, Accounting or similar fields of study
  • Working experience of programme finance within an NGO/INGO
  • Good Microsoft Suit skills, including Excel
