Mercy Hands Europe (MHEurope) is a women-led not-for-profit organization registered in Geneva that works to safeguard dignity, sustain human rights and build sustainable futures for people in the MENA region, particularly those who are the most vulnerable such as returenees, refugees, IDPs, women, children and minorities.
Together, MHEurope and Mercy Hands for Humanitarian Aid form the MHGroup from 2019. MHEurope implements development projects in disaster affected areas in Iraq and Syria , either directly through field missions, its sister organization, or other local partners. Its projects combine the in-depth national presence of their partners, their field experience and knowledge of local contexts with the thematic expertise of MHEurope, their program managers’ extensive experience and contacts with Swiss, European and international institutions.
MHEurope is the bridge between the international world and local organizations. MHEurope does not only advocate and raise awareness but has its own activities in the protection, education and livelihoods sector, with the added value of capacity building and experts from the large international organization. Currently, MHEurope is implementing 4 projects in the sector of Education, Protection, and agriculture, in partnership with UNDP, Embassy of Canada, and Swiss foundation.
Position
The Finance intern will be based at MHEurope’s Headquarters in Geneva. S/he will work under the direct supervision of – and report to – the Executive Director. The Finance intern will help by managing the finance of MHEurope.
The position is highly communicative, requiring ongoing interaction with the Executive Director, the Programme Manager, field staff, donors, partners, various stakeholders, etc.

4 months.

Salary
● Remuneration is 750 Fr/month
Requirement
● Compulsory : Excellent oral and written English;
● Compulsory : Excellent oral and written French;
● Compulsory : Background studies in a related field;
● Optional : A first experience in the sector is an asset.
Responsibilities
● Management of the financial aspects under the supervision of the Executive Director.
Duties
● Managing MHEurope’s accounts and books, Treasury, assets of the organization
● Managing payroll (salaries, insurances, invoices…);
● Establishing and maintaining internal controls. Ensuring that all financial activities of MHEurope are in line with its policies;
● Checking projects budgets
● Coordinating and supervising the annual audit and tax preparation, and assisting in the preparation and execution of the annual operating budget
Other Duties
● Cooperating with the Programme Managers.
● Collaborating with our partners based in France, Iraq and Syria, according to the Memoranda of Understanding;
● Performing other duties related to the position as assigned by the MHEurope Executive Director.
