Finance Manager At INTERSOS

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Management

  • Cash flow – Consolidate monthly cash needs from financial plans and compile weekly/monthly cash forecasts and provide recommendations in ensuring smooth operations.
  • Review of payroll as per budget and funding requirements
  • Upload PN Transaction to NPW after validation by the FC. Produce financial reports on the utilization of project funds to enable senior management in budget review on project costs and shared costs. Support in analysis, advise of variance against approved budgets and make recommendations for corrective action.
  • Perform Monthly Balance Sheet reconciliation using NPW data for FC validation.
  • Ensure compliance with INTERSOS and donors’ procedures in all financial transactions.
  • Update the economic and financial status of the mission and related projects, in terms of expenses, appropriations, available cash, and liquidity (Prima Nota).
  • Support the FC to perform monthly Bank reconciliations.
  • Conduct field travel to project sites as necessary to review financial procedures.
  • Set up, organize, and manage the administrative files pertaining to the mission and, in all projects, based on criteria defined by the Protocols and any indications from the FC.

Grants Development and Management

  • Proposal development – act as a focal Finance point to work with the FC and PMs on budget development during the proposal stage.
  • Ensure grant requests are made in line with donor agreements (advance request/invoice to donors)
  • Coordinate with Program Managers on project finance issues and ensure all donor requirements for documentation of expenditures are met to facilitate attribution of expenses to donors.
  • Ensure the schedule for Donor reporting is respected and all reports are compiled in an accurate and timely manner and submitted to FC for verification and approval. In terms of internal reporting, Finance Manager will lead and coordinate regular monthly BvFP (budget vs Financial Plan).
  • Financial Audit – preparation for internal and external annual, ad hoc, and donor audits closely with FC and HOM.
  • work closely with Grants Department, ensuring that donor finance guidelines, formats, and processes are understood by all affected colleagues at the start of each project and being adhered to throughout the project.

Team Management and capacity building

  • Provide proper supervision, training, guidance, and mentoring of the finance team members to ensure effective financial management.
  • Provide training/guidance for key staff and local partners in financial procedures.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Professional Requirements

  • First University Degree from a recognized University
  • Qualified accountant and a member Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience at national and international level working as an admin-finance Officer/Manager
  • Strong understanding of budgeting and financial management
  • Excellent computer skills, especially in Excel
  • Demonstrated leadership and very good interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Demonstrate experience with different donor finance compliance and reporting.
  • Ability to perform and assure high accuracy in work with tight turnaround time.
  • Positive and solution-oriented personality
  • Fluency in English is required.

  • Adhere to all INTERSOS policies and procedures both technical and administrational.
  • Undertake and apply learning from appropriate training and development programmes.
  • Maintain and care for all equipment issued by INTERSOS Nigeria and for any losses or damages due to negligence you will be liable for repair or replacement.
