TDA identifies the following as goals that should guide the efforts of political transition:

  • Supporting civil initiatives locally inside Syria and supplying them with knowledge in the areas of justice, human rights, and the political transition from an authoritarian regime to a democratic one.
  • Supporting justice and accountability efforts by supporting victims of human rights violations in Syria, especially victims of arbitrary arrest, enforced disappearance and displacement, and monitoring patterns of violations and raising awareness of relevant actors and stakeholders.
  • Supporting the efforts of the political transition from its position in the Syrian civil society in line with its values and objectives.
  • Coordinating the efforts of Syrian civil society in the areas of transitional justice and engaging in the formulation of a political transition.

Job purpose:

Assist the Finance Manager in budgeting, procurement oversight, and records management, and be responsible for preparing timely and accurate financial reporting and monthly financial spreadsheets, cash flow forecasts, and data entry.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Record the daily transactions on the accounting systems, with proper project allocation, and ensure sufficient supporting documents.
  • Ensure compliance with Disbursement by having all the required and sufficient supporting documents.
  • Conducts monthly bank reconciliation and presents to the management for approval.
  • Handles day-to-day accounting and transactions, including invoicing and organization of receipts.
  • Organizes project finances, prepare budget projections, and ensure cash flows and transactions are functioning and accurately reported.
  • Assist in preparing financial reporting and records for multiple donors.
  • Ensures the timely payment of invoices and reimbursement requests.
  • Ensure compliance with donor’s requirements and TDA policies and procedures.
  • Assist with annual organizational and financial audits.
  • Assist Finance Manager in following up with the Turkish legal Accountant, ensuring all books are up to date.
  • Assist Finance Manager in following up all needed actions regarding Turkish Government requirements (Decision book etc.)
  • When needed, handle logistical requests for projects, such as hotel and travel arrangements, conference administration and minor translation.
  • Assist in tracking the Payment schedules from donors and funds transfer.
  • Maintain project budgets; update the budget vs actual on a monthly basis (Master & Grants, including brief commentary on variances), including Donors’ budgets.
  • Assist in inventory tracking and recording.
  • Any other task that has been assigned by the manager according to his specialist field.

Academic Qualifications and Experiences:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics

Requirements:

  • Work experience as an Accountant or similar role for at least two years.
  • Previous experience in GIZ projects.
  • Residence preferably in Istanbul.
  • Experience using financial software (QuickBooks).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office, especially in excel.
  • Written and verbal (English, Arabic, and Turkish is a plus).
  • Knowing the Turkish Labor Law.
  • The ability to periodically prepare financial statements and financial inventories.
  • Integrity, and transparency, with the ability to manage confidential data.

  • Excellent Monitoring, Reporting, Presentation, Facilitation, and Communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently, and with limited supervision.
