DRC is currently seeking a highly qualified Finance Officer in Guasdualito, Venezuela.
About work:
DRC is managing its operations in Venezuela, under the direction of the DRC country office in Caracas and three field offices located in the states of Sucre, Apure and Zulia. DRC Venezuela is implementing activities such as protection monitoring, legal assistance, individual protection assistance for PWSN, briefings for PoC, prevention of human trafficking, rehabilitation of health infrastructure and food security.
Position objective: The Finance Officer will be tasked with supporting financial operations to comply with internal and external requirements and legal regulations. The Finance Officer must be familiar with budget preparation, budget monitoring, accounting activities and external audit procedures.
Responsibilities:
Financial and Budget Management
- Ensure data and transactions are recorded correctly and entered into DRC ERP.
- Prepare and reconcile bank statements according to established weekly and monthly deadlines.
- Ensure correct accounting management, in accordance with applicable laws, standards and accounting procedures.
- Prepare and reconcile the petty cash register(s) weekly and monthly.
- Maintain files and financial records orderly.
- Track contracts monthly and ensure all contracts are renewed, closed or paid on time.
- File, scan and send financial documents to the main office monthly.
- Correctly use the functionalities of the DRC ERP, Microsoft Dynamics.
- Carry out budget monitoring for all budgets assigned to Base Guasdualito.
- Support in the preparation of reports to donors.
- Support the organization of external and internal audits and requests for donor information.
- Ensure the weekly accounting closing of the Guasdualito Base and the sending of the “Cash Counts” on time.
- Ensure the monthly accounting closing of the base within the established times.
- Preparation and review of payments managed in the office.
- Manage the banking platform.
- Cause payments in the DRC Dynamics system and mount them to the bank, after reviewing compliance with DRC’s internal procedures, as well as the corresponding supports.
Cash management.
- Maintain cash controls in accordance with established DRC procedures.
- Monitor cash reserves.
- Prepare cash requests to the National office (Caracas).
- Carry out banking transactions.
- Maintain updated daily records of transactions in the DRC Dynamics system.
- Handling and managing petty cash resources in accordance with the procedures established by DRC.
Administration
- Act as auditor/verifier of the accounting and finance area processes at the base.
- Comply with internal donor requirements.
- Manage the documentary processes corresponding to the contracting.
- Support the administrative process of recruiting and selecting personnel.
- Support the administrative process of document management of the finance areas.
Essential competencies:
- At least 2 years of work experience with an international NGO in a similar role.
- High computer skills
- Experience working with ERP
- Basic proficiency in PowerPoint and Word.
- Good communication and document organization skills.
Desirable skills:
- Expert use of the Microsoft Office suite
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics.
- Fluency in written and spoken English
Education
University degree in Finance / Business Administration / Accounting or its equivalent in experience
