Finance Specialist At International Rescue Committee

Job Overview: The Finance Specialist will be responsible for essential accounting functions such as accounts payable, data tracking, and other tasks as assigned. This position reports directly to the Finance Manager.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Assist in preparing monthly invoices to donor for Atlanta and Florida.

· Review monthly client spending and make any necessary adjustments.

· Prepare monthly payroll allocation for all 3 offices and post in Integra.

· Provide backup on payment processing by reviewing and processing check requests & ACH and loading of funds on BOA prepaid cards. This involves reviewing account codes used, the final distribution of payments, and the completion of the payment cycle in Integra.

· Review and process staff expenses and reconcile all the P-cards for all 3 offices.

· Prepare monthly Time and Effort.

· Complete bank reconciliation and post any adjustment entries.

· Extra detail transactions and verify per account the financial dimension on a weekly/monthly basis.

· Assist with internal and external audit inquiries and reports.

· Perform balance sheet account reconciliation.

· Create and post inventory adjustment journals.

· Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education/Work Experience:

· Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 2 years of nonprofit accounting experience.

· Successful background in Finance and administrative with proven ability to work as a team member in a cross-cultural environment. Reporting experience preferred.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

· Strong attention to detail

· Excellent computer skills to include all Microsoft Office Programs, database experience and various other financial related software programs.

· Experience working on financial and administrative issues.

· Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Working Environment:

  • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
