Finance Technical Assistant – Coatzacoalcos At Norwegian Refugee Council

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an International Non-Governmental Organization based in Oslo, Norway that works in more than 40 countries offering humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable populations. NRC has been responding to growing internal and external displacement in Central America and Mexico since 2015, focusing on the protection crisis and integrating legal assistance, education, shelter and infrastructure, water and sanitation, and livelihood interventions.

NRC is an organization with a high international reputation in humanitarian assistance and has been working in Latin America for more than 30 years, leading humanitarian action in many of the countries where it operates.

In Mexico, NRC has been collaborating with local partners since 2019 and is currently expanding its reach, initiating activities through direct implementation in the States of

Veracruz, Coahuila and Mexico City, with more than 20 collaborators hired by NRC in Mexico, providing assistance to displaced people in the intervention areas of the country.

1. Objective

This is an exciting opportunity to support the execution of the functions of the finance area in the NRC offices in Mexico, such as the execution of the strategy, operationally leading the monetary transfer system in the field and supporting financial management and accountant in the office.

2. Main Responsibilities

  1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, manuals and guidelines.
  2. Support with the implementation of the project portfolio in accordance with the action plan.
  3. Implement procedures and activities interchangeably within one’s own function or basic competence as delegated.
  4. Responsible for the organization and execution of tasks in accordance with priorities and standards.
  5. Develop and maintain knowledge of the area of ​​work specialization in which technical assistance and support is provided, in order to be more effective in supporting the team.
  6. Initiative in solving daily problems in accordance with agreed procedures, priorities and standards for the work area.
  7. Prepare and develop status reports required by management
  8. Ensure proper filing of documents
  9. Promote and share ideas to strengthen the functions of your role.

3. Professional Competencies

  • Professional in economic sciences, business administration, accounting and/or finance
  • Minimum two years of experience in functions related to the position
  • Solid knowledge in Accounting and Bank Payment Management
  • Knowledge in Management and Reconciliation of Mass Electronic Transfers (multiple recipients)
  • Experience in ERP software management
  • Work experience as an Assistant in humanitarian aid contexts
  • Knowledge and experience within the technical field and ideally a relevant professional qualification (required)
  • Accounting Certifications (recommended)
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts (recommended)
  • Verifiable experience related to the responsibilities of the position (recommended)
  • Experience in project coordination or field missions (desirable)
  • Knowledge of the context and terrain (especially States of Veracruz and Coahuila) (desirable)
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office office utilities (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
