WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING

As our Financial & Administrative Officer, you will have a wide range of responsibilities encompassing both finance and administration. Collaborating closely with the Finance Manager, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial stability and operational efficiency of our organisation.

On the finance side, you will be responsible for processing invoices and declarations, optimizing debtor and creditor administration, and supporting the day-to-day financial management of our projects.

On the administrative front, you will maintain and update our contact database and other IT systems, manage the onboarding and offboarding processes, oversee office supplies and equipment maintenance, and take care of various office-related tasks such as mailing and shipping.

Additionally, you will manage relationships with vendors and office building owners, handle schedules and appointments, and coordinate logistical and travel arrangements for the DAG team and in preparation of an annual high-level conference, ensuring smooth and well-executed events, meetings, and trips.

EXPERIENCE

  • Two to three years of relevant experience in a financial administrative field;
  • Experience in facilitating the smooth running of an office;
  • Experience in communicating with government and tax authorities is beneficial;
  • Experience of working for a charity or non-profit organisation is beneficial;
  • Good knowledge of Amsterdam event spaces, hotels and caterers is a plus;

SKILLS

  • Top-notch communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in financial and administrative tasks;
  • Capacity to quickly grasp and internalize the specific requirements and sensitivities related to organizational work and administrative processes;
  • Experience with Exact Online or similar accounting software, Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Fluent in English and working proficiency in Dutch is required.

ABOUT DAG

The Dialogue Advisory Group (DAG) is an independent non-governmental organisation (NGO) that facilitates political dialogue to reduce violence. We create or advance political dialogues between armed groups, governments, and international organisations in conflict situations. We have a small and dedicated team based in Amsterdam that frequently travels across the globe to our project locations. This includes 13 permanent staff and a variable number of consultants, as well as a flexible working model.
