Médecins Sans Frontières, an international humanitarian medical association created in 1971, provides medical assistance to populations whose lives are threatened; mainly in the event of armed conflicts, but also epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters or exclusion from care. The French section is present in around thirty countries.

As part of a specific field position opening, we are looking for a:

Fistula Specialist M/F

Main goal : To ensure the smooth running and coordination of a medical or paramedical activity within the Mission (mental health, patient support, health promotion, etc.) and provide support to Activity Managers, in accordance with MSF protocols, standards and procedures and in such a way as to ensure quality care for patients and their communities and to improve the health conditions of the population.

Mission

  • Coordinate, monitor and evaluate the proper functioning of a medical or paramedical activity within a mission, in accordance with MSF protocols, standards and procedures
  • Ensure the implementation of the activity (information or advice sessions, search for absent participants, consolidation of support groups, relations with social actors, community awareness activities, etc.).
  • Participate in defining the strategies, protocols and activities of the mission and projects in its field by assessing the needs of the mission based on the evolution of medical imperatives and the context (including the logistical framework and the budget);
  • Design tools (e.g. training materials, information or advice protocols, leaflets, presentations, games).
  • Monitor and evaluate activity at the mission level and define indicators, monitor tools and prepare contingency plans with the Activity Manager (if necessary).
  • Provide functional supervision to the relevant Activity Managers and provide them with technical assistance by regularly visiting the projects.
  • Ensure consistency and organize information exchange meetings between projects.
  • In close collaboration with the Human Resources department and the relevant Activity Manager, participate in the associated HR processes (recruitment, training/initiation, assessment, detection of potential, development and internal communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure that the team meets the necessary criteria in terms of aptitude, skills and size
  • Assist the Head of Mission and the Comed by representing them to the Ministry of Health and other national and international partners on issues falling within their responsibility, such as the deployment of activities in the areas and lobbying to find the necessary human resources.
  • Collect and analyze data from projects to contribute to the mission report. Take inventory of experiences from activities and operational research carried out in the field.

Experiences / Training

Education

  • University degree in a related discipline (e.g. Medicine, Health, Psychology/Counseling, Social Sciences/Communication/Health Promotion/Educational Sciences)

Experience

  • At least two years of professional experience in related roles
  • one year with an NGO as Activity Manager

Salary

Full support by MSF:

Transportation and accommodation + monthly per diem for current expenses (food and others). Full medical coverage: mutual insurance / vaccinations / evacuation if necessary. Insurance.

Status and conditions:

Duration: 3-month mission.

Salary based on MSF remuneration policy.
