Context

The strategy of support to the projects in terms of Learning and Development consists in developing and in structuring OCG (Operational Center Geneva) long-term actions and to propose learning actions adapted to contexts, to deploy as close as possible to the field in order to develop the largest number of health-care workers and to offer a theoretical and practical approach to favor the transfer of knowledge and skills.

In the last years OCG has made substantial efforts to improve the offer of learning spaces related to mental health and psychosocial interventions and, we recently developed a E-Learning in HPCE. However, there are still some challenges and gaps that need to be addressed towards the ambition of structuring a comprehensive package of continued learning development for our workforce to be able to have a systemic PPP approach. Moreover, it has been identified that our field teams face challenges to incorporate Mental Health into Health Promotion activities with a solid community engagement.

Mission

The general objective of the position is to contribute to the improvement of quality of care and OCGs patients and populations as partners (PPP) approach by strengthening the skills and consolidating teamwork between mental health and health promotion teams with a strong focus on community engagement.

Under the technical supervision of Health Promotion and Mental Health Advisors and the managerial supervision of the L&D Medical Training Partner, the Flying Mental Health in Health Promotion Trainer will develop materials and deploy Trainings on how to integrate mental health (MH) in health promotion (HP) activities with community engagement in the field reinforcing the OCG PPP approach.

Position

· Conduct learning need assessment: based on the project strategies, community -initial assessments (any previous assessment, surveys on community -context) in close collaboration with the coordination.

· Accompany the consolidation and application of the knowledge and skills regarding standards, guidelines and tools for health-care providers.

· Assess the quality of trainings and ensure the follow up and Skills transfers.

· Support compiling and consolidating the PSEC training and materials available at field level for Severe MH Disorders.

Your Profile

Education

· Psychologist, Psychiatric Nurse or Social Worker (with experience/specialization in MH).

· Desired courses: Training of Trainers, MSF MH Course, Health Promotion and/or Anthropology.

Experience

· Minimum 2 field missions with MSF in different contexts.

· Confirmed experience in developing and implementing mental health activities in health promotion and community engagement.

· Experience in PSEC for Severe MH conditions is a plus.

· Experience in adult training. Experience in managing knowledge sharing mechanisms an asset

· Professional experience in academic or private sector is mandatory

· Experience in academic research is an asset

Technical skills

· Knowledge in MSF Mental Health International guidelines, intervention protocols in mental health and health promotion with community engagement in humanitarian contexts.

· Experience on Patient education is a plus.

Terms of Employment

· Fixed-term contract of 4 months with an occupancy of 100%

· Field-based position with visits to HQ in Geneva

· Practical working conditions while in the field are as per the MSF OCG volunteer handbook.

· Ideal starting date: 1st of September 2021

· Gross monthly salary: CHF 5’500.- for 100% position (proportional to occupancy rate)

· Social Benefits: Health insurance and living costs in the countries of intervention and at HQ, paid according to internal regulations.
