The Food Security Coordination of the Colombia mission ensures and leads the sectoral development and strategic vision of the food security sector under its charge, in a coherent and pertinent manner with the mission strategy and the country’s needs.
It represents Action Against Hunger at the sector level in the different external coordination spaces required in the area of SAN and TM (monetary transfers), and promotes the development of publications, research, systematizations, keys and relevant data and information products that position and increase the visibility of the sector for Action Against Hunger in the country in coordination with the different work areas in the organization (Deputy, Information Management Unit, MEAL, WASH technical coordination, Health, among others).
It offers innovative proposals for humanitarian response in emergencies and development for the SANMV sector, as well as to support the implementation of activities in the field, and ensures quality management and alignment of the actions of the technical teams and projects, which include the SAM component with the policies, Technical Programming Framework – MTP and other technical guidelines of the organization and at the country level (guidelines for TM, rural policy, agroecological management, BPM, BPA, among others) for the area.
The main activities you will perform are the following:
Objective 1: Contribute to the strategic reflection of the Colombia mission program and the positioning strategy from the sector, according to the country’s analysis in the food security and livelihood sector, the programmatic development plan and the analysis of opportunities projecting the vision and added value of the organization in Colombia in the sector
Actively contribute to the development of the Food Security program by providing the main guidelines for the development of the sector in the organization, relevant data on the situation and required responses; and disseminate the main elements of the program with donors and allies; improve the analytical capabilities in the SAMV sector with the technical team to ensure correct positioning, and maintain active participation and constant communication with technical representatives and in sector bodies (SAN Cluster, GTM, Ministry of Agriculture, Socioeconomic Inclusion Cluster, among others) ensuring that the interests of the organization and the ACH Food Security program in the country are adequately positioned.
Objective 2: Guide knowledge management within the mission and the production of information in the sector
Strengthen the technical team’s capabilities for data collection and analysis in the sector, and monitor, together with the Information Unit and MEAL, the quality of the mission databases that allow the generation of high-quality information products in the sector; identify and schedule the production of topics of interest to be developed in their area of work (study, surveys, analysis, documents)
Objective 3: Guide and guarantee the technical quality of the actions developed in contracts and programs under the sector under its charge in the Colombia mission
Monitor projects that have a technical component of food safety and ensure the incorporation, training and implementation of the main quality elements, guidelines and processes for the area. Monitor the main indicators of your sector and ensure that you incorporate the appropriate tools for data collection, analysis of indicators and results of your area in coordination with the MEAL area. Monitor the area’s activities on the ground to ensure the quality and harmonious work of the teams with the area’s guidelines. Incorporate elements of innovation (including cross-cutting approaches: gender, environment and sensitivity to conflict) in the activities developed that add value to the most vulnerable beneficiary communities and that produce changes in the quality of life. Participate in calls for attention in sudden emergencies with specific proposals and emergency actions in your sector. Design and distribute process maps in your work area to ensure the efficiency and coherence of the actions of the work teams, guarantee continuous training to strengthen the capacities and autonomy of the technical teams in the sector and coordination with other sectors for a comprehensive and multi-sectoral vision.
Does this description fit you?
- Qualified training in Agronomy, agricultural sciences, and specialization in development cooperation and humanitarian aid
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in humanitarian and/or development projects in the SA sector. Demonstrated experience working in the areas of conflict and migration. Experience in managing technical teams. Previous experience in coordination positions in Food Security and Livelihoods specifically. Experience and/or knowledge of cash transfers.
- Knowledge: High knowledge of the humanitarian and international cooperation environment. Spokespersonship skills. High analytical skills. Skills in effective communication and synthesis.
- Languages: advanced English desirable.
- Office automation and specific systems: Handling of Office tools.
- DESIRABLE: General knowledge of the organization and its sectors of intervention; experience in Latin America.
- Mobility: Geographic mobility (around 40% on the ground, outside Bogotá).
- Commitments to gender equality and zero tolerance for abuse: Previous experience in issues related to the promotion of gender equality or personal commitment to gender equality is valued.
