JOB TITLE: Food Security and Livelihoods Coordinator
LOCATION: Northeast Syria Or Erbil (70 % of the time in NES )
CONTRACT LENGTH: 12 months.
ROLE PURPOSE:
As the Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) & Early Recovery and Livelihoods (ERL) Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in shaping , coordinating and advancing IPV’s FSL & ERL programs in Northeast Syria. Your direct reporting line to the Program Team underscores your responsibility for contributing to the program development and coordination responsibilities . Your leadership will extend to the development of FSL & ERL novel initiatives aimed at addressing the root causes of poverty, capacity-building , youth support , boosting socio-economic status , and achieving sustainability , with a specific focus on fostering secure, productive, and equitable communities within the complex context of Northeast Syria.
About IPV:
IPV is short for Innovative and Powerful Vision (IPV), which originated in Syria in 2016. Beginning as a group of activists, IPV emerged in response to the community’s needs and has been active in Northeast Syria. IPV is a non-profit organization licensed in France, ERBIL, and Northeast Syria (NES). Our work encompasses the Education, Health & Nutrition, Protection, FSL and Early Recovery. We employ integrated approaches to address immediate humanitarian needs and develop the capacity of individuals through our humanitarian programs.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILTY:
Coordination:
- Maintain effective communication and coordination with the NES working group and other pertinent working groups.
- Champion the inclusion of new partners and actively explore opportunities to expand IPV’s reach.
- Assist the Program team in developing projects and ensuring the smooth implementation of FSL & ERL activities.
- Contribute to providing and reviewing technical studies for Food Security, Early Recovery, and Livelihood interventions.
- Collaborate with partners, engage with project stakeholders, and participate in cluster/coordination meetings.
- Supervise field teams to implement project activities in line with humanitarian standards and IPV’s objectives.
Program Development :
- Contribute to FSL & ERL proposal writing.
- Track activity progress, collect project indicators, and provide internal status reports.
- Participate in recruitment, including drafting TORs and JDs, and conducting interviews.
- Support new employee orientation and team-building activities.
- Engage in the Performance Appraisal Process and assess training needs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, relevant experience in coordination, and development of FSL & ERL Projects.
Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years’ work experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least two years in an FSL Coordinator or similar role.
- Good experience in coordination and development of FSL ERL sector , including, livelihood & Capacity building Agriculture, Value Chains, and Food Security.
- Proven experience in reporting project progress to partners/donors.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proven management skills, multitasking, and well-organized approaches.
- Leadership and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficient in both written and spoken Arabic and English. Knowledge of Kurdish is desirable.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in an ever-changing environment.
- Proficient in computer skills, especially Microsoft Office.
