Food Security Field Coordinator (National position) at INTERSOS

Job position- Food Security Field Coordinator Work location – Bama & Monguno LGA)

Reporting to – Food Security Project Manager Supervision of – Field officers

General purpose of the position

The Food Security Field Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of the Food Security activities implemented at the field location within the framework of the WFP project, ensuring that they are delivered following the proposal text agreed upon with the donor, and that these activities are achieved in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to INTERSOS guidelines.

Tasks and Main Responsibilities

· Oversees the management and implementation of the food security projects funded by WFP in accordance to the Field Level Agreement at the field level.

· Leads implementation of Food Assistance activities (In-kind and Cash Based Transfers) and malnutrition prevention activities (Blanket and Targeted supplementary Feeding Program) using appropriate INTERSOS and WFP project management tools.

· Leads in planning, implementation, monitoring of the food Security project activities.

· Ensures implementation of technically-sound beneficiary selection criteria and approaches;

· Ensures tactical plans for all the food security projects activities t the field level are developed and followed.

· Ensures field level activities are set up efficiently using the INTERSOS program Integration model to promote malnutrition prevention, enhance food security and build community resilience.

· Supervises programme implementation quality in accordance with INTERSOS and Donor policies, and the generally accepted best practices.

· Builds on existing, and seeks new synergies for advocacy through the cluster system at LGA level, technical working groups and other fora in Food Security and Nutrition Sector.

· Supports cross-sectoral periodic programme reviews to assess programme progress, capture lessons learnt and adapt programme strategies as necessary in accordance with INTERSOS Project appraisal Tool (PAT).

· Analyses and reports the humanitarian needs and provide clear and detailed recommendations for intervention.

· Develops appropriate targeting criteria and mechanisms to ensure the needs of identified vulnerable groups are met.

· Supports the Nutrition Activity Supervisor in identifying and developing knowledge gaps, technical needs opportunities.

· Supports the Nutrition Activity Supervisor for project activities development and staff training and skill development.

· Ensures protection and gender are mainstreamed in all the Food Security project activities.

· Ensures community involvement in all phases of the project cycle.

· Prepares and submits the monthly project progress report, quarterly, case studies, success story, publications etc.

· Presentation of monthly progress report

· Ensures the field project team share the daily, weekly & monthly reports in a timely manner.

· Attends all relevant Local Coordination Sector Meeting.

· Conducting above tasks and any other tasks requested by line manager.

· Implements other tasks as might be required with relation to the INTERSOS Country Program in Nigeria.

· Conducts duties strictly in accordance with INTERSOS Code of Conduct and the principle of confidentiality.

Position Requirements

Professional requirements**

· Minimum Degree in Management or relevant field

· Minimum of 3 year in humanitarian work “desirable”

· Previous nutrition work experience

Personal requirements*

· Strong interpersonal and team building skills and excellence as a team player.

· Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, power point presentation etc.)

· Strong sense of responsibility, methodical and accurate with high organizational skills

· Honesty and integrity and able to cope with stressful situations.

· Flexibility & adaptability-Willingness to deploy to the newly liberated local government areas.

· Fluency in English, Kanuri and Hausa will be considered a plus
