SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association that, for over 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs: drinking, eating, and shelter. Particularly committed to combating diseases linked to unsafe water, the world’s leading cause of death, SI implements through its interventions expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and the promotion of hygiene, but also in the essential field of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, SI’s teams – 3,200 people in total, made up of expatriates, national employees, permanent staff at headquarters, a few volunteers, etc. – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.
Context
Within the Development and Communication department made up of 19 people, and directly reporting to the Events and Regional Delegations Manager, you will provide support for the organization of events from headquarters and, occasionally, in regional delegations.
The communications department organizes events at the headquarters and supervises the regional delegations. A regional delegation is a team composed solely of volunteers based in the region, who carry out communication and awareness-raising actions to make our NGO and the fights it leads known to a wide audience. Currently, three regional delegations are active: Brittany, Pays de la Loire and Ile de France.
SUPPORT FOR HEADQUARTERS EVENT PROJECTS
As an events and regional delegations assistant, you will take an active part in the design, implementation and review phases of the association’s various events:
Conferences, round tables
Screenings of our documentary series De Vos Propres Yeux
Photo exhibition
Humanitarian talk and various events linked to our annual thematic campaign
World Water Day
Evening of Wishes
Other events linked to other departments
SUPPORT FOR REGIONAL DELEGATION PROJECTS
As an events and regional delegations assistant, you will support the animation and development of our regional volunteer delegations:
Creation of tools for volunteers: recruitment, integration and animation of a delegation
Creation of communication materials for delegations
Identification of new events where to deploy our Water Bar in the Ile de France, Pays de Loire and Brittany regions
Support for the organization and participation in certain events such as summer festivals in the region: Solidays in June, Interceltic Festival of Lorient in August, RDV de l’Erdre in Nantes in September, etc.
Identification of new schools in which to deploy our Water Game workshops (for children)
Support for the project to develop the adult version of the Water Game
Recruitment of new volunteers to carry out events and awareness-raising actions
Identification of new visibility channels for local delegation events
Days worked on weekends and/or in the evenings as part of travel to events will be made up.
HELP WITH CREATING VISIBILITY TOOLS
The Events and Regional Delegations Manager also manages goodies and visibility tools. Your mission will be to support them on the following topics:
Prospecting for new visibility tools
Call for tenders and comparison of the different suppliers prospected
Order management, receipt of deliveries and storage
Stock monitoring, replenishment management.
PARTICIPATION IN INTERNAL COMMUNICATION
Collection and dissemination of information internally
Participation in department discussions and meetings
Occasional contribution to other actions of the communications department
MAIN CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE INTERNSHIP
At the end of your internship in the Communications department of SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL:
You will understand how the headquarters of a major international NGO works, the different professions that make it up and the relationships between the different humanitarian actors
You will have a global vision of the communication strategy of an NGO whose main challenge is to improve its reputation
You will have an initial approach to the functioning of the volunteer delegations of an NGO, you will know how to collaborate with teams of volunteers
You will know the different stages of organizing events, from design to assessment
You will be able to put into practice your creative skills (graphics and audiovisual) and the production monitoring tools.
IF YOU WILL OFFER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:
Internship based at the SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL headquarters in Clichy (92), Mairie de Clichy metro station
Intern with mandatory internship agreement.
Compensation: 4.90 euros/hour
Compensation is calculated in proportion to the actual hours of presence during the month. (On average 1 month = 154 hours, or 22 days of 7 hours/day)
Public transport covered 50% by SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL
Meal vouchers at 8.90 € / actual day of internship, with SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL contributing 60%
Travel in the region to be expected
Higher education (bac +3 level) preferably focused on communication, events and/or project management.
Real interest and motivation for community and humanitarian work
Ideally, initial professional experience in communications
Excellent writing skills
Creativity, rigor, organization and autonomy
Computers: good command of DTP (Adobe CC pack and in particular InDesign and Photoshop), Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet and social networks, email (Outlook)
