WHAT DO WE DO …

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, for more than 40 years, has provided relief to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting vital needs, such as drinking, eating and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and promotion hygiene but also in the essential aspect of food security and means of existence. Present in around thirty countries, SI teams – around 2,500 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

SI undertakes to offer the Assistant a variety of tasks as well as internal training to prepare for departure allowing them to usefully strengthen their training/experience with a view to future humanitarian engagement. This internship is an opportunity to understand in depth the functioning of a humanitarian NGO, its constraints and the different approaches.

The Assistant will be attached to the Logistician Desk Middle East.

JOB DESCRIPTION

TRAINING OBJECTIVES:

Know :

  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of the functioning of a field and the interactions between professions (knowledge of programs and areas of expertise, understanding of headquarters and field links)
  • Master the tools and procedures of the organization’s support professions

Know-how :

  • Position yourself as a future professional supporting the humanitarian sector within a country team before the end of the internship

Expertise :

  • Apply the procedures of the organization’s support professions (mastery of IS and donor procedures, communication with Program and Finance departments)
  • Produce an analysis of field support tools

EDUCATIONAL GOALS :

  • Become familiar with the professional world
  • Bringing together the operating methods of an organization with the theoretical knowledge acquired
  • Apply the supporting knowledge acquired during the internship
  • Be introduced to Supply Chain and Operational Logistics themes

TASKS TO BE PERFORMED

GENERAL :

  • Desk life and Headquarters life
  • Communication with the field, links between fields and headquarters, links between headquarters departments
  • Discovery of the humanitarian environment and its sectors of activity
  • Participation in briefings and debriefing of logistics field staff
  • Participation in points between the Logistician Desk and the logistics coordinators

SUPPLY CHAIN ​​:

  • Participation in the compliance of the organization’s land purchasing files (procurement, authorized signatories, internal control, supply management software (LINK), nomenclature and archiving, recommendations, translation, etc.)
  • Monitoring of equipment shipments from headquarters to the field

OPERATIONAL LOGISTICS

  • Participates in the compliance of logistics reporting for the organization’s land (stock status, fuel consumption, stock reports, logistics annexes to lessor reports, invoicing monitoring, etc.)
  • Contribution to updating and monitoring the organization’s logistics data

YOUR PROFILE

  • Minimum Bac +2/3 level in humanitarian logistics (Bioforce type), University Master’s degree / Business School / BTS (with at least awareness of humanitarianism and/or logistics)
  • Mastery of the Office pack and ability to work on purchasing management software preferred
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Autonomy, rigor and versatility
  • Ability to learn, remotely, in a team

IF WILL OFFER YOU THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS

  • Internship based at the SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL headquarters in Clichy (92), Clichy Town Hall metro station, occasional teleworking possible.
  • Intern with mandatory internship agreement.
  • Bonus: 4.90 euros/hour
  • The bonus is calculated in proportion to the actual hours of presence over the month. (On average 1 month = 154 hours, or 22 days of 7 hours/day)
  • Public transport covered at 50% by SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL
  • Restaurant tickets at €8.90/effective day of training, with 60% participation from SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL
