ABOUT CHAIN OF HOPE
La Chaîne de l’Espoir is an international NGO founded in 1994. Its mission is to strengthen health systems to give everyone, and in particular children, the same chances of survival and development. We operate in 28 countries with a global approach, focused on the child but also on mothers and disadvantaged communities:
- Prevention and screening from an early age, particularly within the framework of school health programs.
- Care and surgery, to meet the most urgent needs of children and their mothers.
- Training and skills transfer to local teams thanks to our international network of experts in all areas of surgery.
- Construction and equipment of hospital structures adapted to local needs.
POSITION AND MISSION
As part of a team of 5 employees and under the responsibility of the Management Control Manager and the Administrative and Financial Director, the management controller is in charge of a portfolio of budgetary items (country and headquarters services).
It provides regular reporting of La Chaîne de l’Espoir’s activity and monitors the structure’s performance. It helps to optimize the association’s resources.
He works in close collaboration with:
- The financial and operational managers of the countries for which he is responsible
- Headquarters support services (accounting, internal control, institutional relations, logistics, HR, etc.)
- Headquarters budget managers
It contributes to the transformation process of the Financial Department in structuring projects: deployment of an ERP by 2025, implementation of accounting management software in our areas of intervention and improvement of La Chaîne’s budgetary management tools hope.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
Budget – Finance
- Collect, analyze and consolidate financial data from operational departments
- Feed the financial management tables of La Chaîne de l’Espoir by guaranteeing the reliability of the data
- Analyze the gaps between financial reality and forecasts and, if necessary, alert management by proposing budgetary solutions
- Anticipate the budgetary risks to which La Chaîne de l’Espoir is exposed and propose corrective measures to avoid them (control the financial arrangements of projects, monitor the implementation of budgets by ensuring that they comply with the contracts to which they relate, etc. )
- Validate all financial documents before submission to institutional funders or private donors (budget, budget amendment, financial reports)
- Ensure compliance of financial commitments with commitments made to funders and donors
- Lead budget planning exercises for the budget centers for which he is responsible
- Participate in the development of budget construction procedures and tools, provide support to non-financial operational staff in the proper use of the tools
- Contribute to the smooth running of internal or external audits of projects for issues relating to the financial scope
Accounting
- Control analytical allocations
- Contribute for the scope that concerns him to the accounting closing process
- Contribute with the accounting department to monitoring the reporting of accounting information
Treasury
- Control and approve fundraising appeals from the countries for which he is responsible
- Track payments received from donors
- Participate in cash flow forecasts
Others
- Participate in the development of management tools and procedures
- Participate in the configuration and implementation of new files, tools or software
- Ensure the proper archiving of key documents relating to its scope (budgets, financial reports)
- Participate in the recruitment process for field administrative and financial teams (preparation of tests, corrections, technical interviews)
- Ensure the strengthening of the skills of administrative and financial teams in the field in the use of financial tools
- Contribute to the proper implementation of financial management procedures within field teams as well as with our operational partners
FORMATION ET EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in Management Control, CCA, Finance, Business Strategy, Financial Management or any other equivalent training (DSCG, etc.)
- Experience in international solidarity NGOs at Headquarters and in the field (minimum experience required of 3 years)
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALITIES
- Good level of English
- Knowledge of institutional donors
- Mastery of Excel essential
- Experience using accounting software required
- Ability to analyze and synthesize
- Taste for teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Rigor and reliability
- Ability to support/train teams in tools/methods
- Adherence to the humanitarian principles and code of ethics of La Chaîne de l’Espoir
CONDITIONS
- Permanent contract, executive status
- Start date: May 2023
- Full-time position, based at the association’s headquarters in Paris, 75015
- Mutual insurance covered at 80%
- Meal tickets worth 10.83 euros covered at 60%
- Reimbursement of transport subscription up to 50%
- Teleworking charter: 3 days/week OR 100% teleworking with 4 days/month of mandatory presence at Headquarters
- 23 days of annual RTT
- Proposed salary: 39k – 43k depending on profile and experience
