Terre des hommes (Tdh) is the leading Swiss organisation for children’s aid. Active in around 40 countries, Tdh works with local and international partners to develop and implement field projects which improve the daily lives of over 4 million children and members of their communities, in the domains of health, protection and emergency relief. This engagement is financed by individual and institutional support, with administrative costs kept to a minimum.
Context :
The Fundraising and Reporting Officer is responsible for maintaining existing donor relationships and securing new donor funding through the preparation of concept notes and proposals, in order to grow Tdh’s programme portfolio in Myanmar, as well as preparing high quality reports for both donors and Tdh HQ. He/she is also responsible for supporting the Country Delegate and programme staff develop effective communications and visibility platforms and materials.
Responsibilities :
Fundraising & donor reporting (80% of time)
- Develop and implement a fundraising plan for the organization, which will achieve the goals for sustainable funding, the development of projects and delivery of core operations.
- Compile and maintain a database of international and local donor organizations (international foundations, bilateral and multilateral agencies and private corporations).
- Regularly monitor donor websites and identify donor opportunities matching the work of Tdh.
- Prepare quality and compelling concept notes and full project proposals (including budgets) and ensure their timely submission.
- Assist the Country Representative in developing business plans to generate income from various sources.
- Undertake online research and build contacts with potential institutional, individual and corporate donors and foundations.
- Maintain relationships with existing donors and respond to their requests in a timely manner.
- Organise fundraising campaigns and events.
- Assist project staff undertake situational and needs assessments if required.
Networking and communications (20% of time)
- Represent the organization locally to donors, I/NGOs and UN agencies.
- Participate as an active member in internal coordination meetings.
- Improve and develop communications and visibility materials for the organization such as case studies, brochures, Facebook page, annual reports, newsletters, promotional documentaries, posters, etc.
- Attend conferences and workshops in order to heighten the profile of Tdh and maximize opportunities to solicit donor funding.
- Strengthen partnerships with other I/NGOs and academic institutions in order to develop consortium bids.
- Develop good relationships with the media.
- Suggest other innovative ideas for effective resource mobilization.
Profile :
- Master’s degree in international relations, community development or relevant field.
- At least 3 (THREE) years fundraising experience with an I/NGO.
- At least 2 (TWO) years of work experience abroad (preferably in a Least Developed Country).
- Proven professional experience working with key institutional donors (eg. FCDO, EU, USAID, UN agencies).
- Knowledge of child protection, maternal/ child health & nutrition and WASH sectors desirable.
- Knowledge & experience of working in emergency contexts highly desirable.
- Excellent English speaking and writing skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Data analysis capacity and report writing.
- Autonomy in work.
- Ability to operate in a politically volatile environment requiring great sensitivity.
- Familiarity with the aid system.
- Prior knowledge of South East Asia desirable.
- Ability to operate Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
Salary :
Expatriate contract under Swiss regulations between CHF 3334.- and CHF 4384.- net /month according to experience x 13 times, Vacancy: 25 days annual leaves local accommodation and transportation, Health insurance, accident and medical repatriation insurance, return flight.
