JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: GBV Officer.

Project / Department Title: Protection

Direct supervisor / Reports to: Gender and protection Senior Officer.

Job Purpose:

To support the protection program at IYD to implement the GBV program in WGSS. The GBV officer is responsible for all aspects of project implementation, including the preparation, planning, organization, coordination, and relations with members of the protection sector and local and international partners, and the documentation for all the steps to implement the project. The scope of the work includes close coordination with counterparts and all stakeholders, including the team, partners, local community and representatives of the local council, and other NGOs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the project in order to meet its objectives within the logical framework, budget, and the allotted time frame.
  • Prepare, update, and implement project work plans and review progress monthly with input from the field and all team members.
  • Work on a holistic GBV program to be implemented in and around WGSS in the areas of the project targeting GBV survivors or at risk of violence.
  • Participate in developing the essential GBV tools and resources, GBV information materials, and PSS activities for women and girls in target communities, and support their implementation.
  • Capacity building related to GBV, Child protection to field staff.
  • Provide analysis of information and data to reporting requirements and assist in regular reporting for donors and internal reports as required.
  • Lead case review meetings with case workers and case conferencing meetings on a needed basis to troubleshoot more complex issues and ensure the best support for the survivor.
  • Supervise all GBV activities in WGSS. Manage GBV teams and follow up on the team performance.
  • Realize and write reports and provide inputs on GBV gaps and trends and technical sections for project proposals.
  • Provide technical support to maintain high-quality program inputs and outputs in the Protection / GBV in program implementation.
  • Provide regular internal training to the staff involved in GBV prevention and response activities.
  • Respect and apply all the PSEA principles and show high commitment to report any SEA action.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities according to applicable timeframes and formats.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly narrative reports on protection activities and submit them accordingly to the technical manager.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate communication with the team and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Raise awareness on reporting procedures and occasionally receive reports on Safeguarding issues, responding in accordance with the IYD policies and procedures, proving referral, or next steps advice and support.

Note: The above-mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative ones. Other future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department’s organizational chart.

Qualification (Education – Work Experience):

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in arts, law, literature, social sciences, psychology or other related fields.
  • One year of professional experience in developing and implementing protection programming, preferably in the Syria crisis.
  • Excellent level in both English and Arabic.

Desirable:

  • Three years of professional experience in developing and implementing protection programming, preferably in the Syria crisis.
  • At least two years of experience working in providing training courses on protection-related topics.

  • Knowledge of relevant programming, safe spaces, female education, maternal, child, and sexual reproductive health, violence against women, and vocational training, in accordance with IYD gender policy and IASC gender guidelines.
  • Demonstrated work experience in gender mainstreaming.
  • Good knowledge and experience of Project Management skills including basic administration, management, and evaluation.
