Program Summary:
Project HOPE is providing humanitarian assistance to the conflict-affected population in Gaza. The current response portfolio focuses on Health, Mental Health, Protection, and WASH programming through Project HOPE programs and local partnerships.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Gender-based violence (GBV) Officer will support the implementation of women and girls’ empowerment activities, GBV case management, focused and non-focused groups psychosocial and activities, and will raise awareness on GBV related topics.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide age-appropriate case management and services to support survivors of GBV.
- Raise awareness on GBV and support women empowerment.
- Enhance the adherent with case management processes including identifying cases, applying related tools for case management and PSS support for survivors as required.
- Ensure proper documentation, data collection and reporting for all the GBV work.
- Ensure Safe referrals, for other service providers.
- Facilitate group support activities (structured and non-structured).
- Participate in training and capacity building activities.
- Develop customized care plan according to the beneficiaries’ needs.
- Protect the privacy and the confidentiality of the case and of the survivor.
- Participate when needed in project assessments: surveys, data collection, filling questionnaires and forms, data entry, conducting interviews, FGD, etc.
- Participate in kit distribution related to protection and conduct all data collection, reporting, evaluation procedure.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders including community leaders and other humanitarian partners and service providers.
- Participate in case-discussion meetings as needed.
- Participate in campaigns, events as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Typically, a University degree, in social sciences, or any other related field. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
- Typically, a minimum of Three (3) years of experience in GBV program.
- Experience in applying GBV case management protocols.
- Experience in facilitating GBV Manuals in both individual and group settings.
- Experience in community mobilization, social work, leading focus group discussions.
- Experience in implementing, creating and adapting group activities, preferably aiming at women and girl’s empowerment.
- Having knowledge in the integration of GBV in sexual and reproductive health is a plus.
- Experience or training in GBV services preferable.
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and ability to communicate in English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and responsibly.
- Experience working with children and women.
- Ability to work under pressure and strong time management skills to meet both short-term and long-term objectives.
- Strict adherence to humanitarian principles and standards (IASC), as well as organizational policies including Code of Conduct and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and Child safeguarding and GBV subcluster principles

Physical demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be mobile in an office environment and able to use standard office equipment.

Work environment:
- This position is based in Gaza. Given the current conflict conditions, candidate must be able to work in a rapidly changing environment.
- Position will be in resource-deprived environment with austere living conditions.
