The technical coordinator position will direct the Gender and Protection Department and support the general management of the program and the coordination of the portfolio of protection and gender programs, as well as the implementation and development of the organization’s policies in the mission. This includes Child Protection, Gender Violence and Psychosocial Support programs, as well as other Protection activities in Venezuela.
The main activities you will perform are the following:
Objective 1: Strategic management of the gender and protection area.
- Identify, analyze and report on the strategies on gender and protection of external actors present in Venezuela (donors, multilateral agencies, government, NGOs, etc.) as well as the existing collaboration spaces, participating in them and leading an advocacy agenda from their area.
- Identifies, establishes and supports the leadership of a strategic and tactical work agenda to position Action Against Hunger with other UN actors, NGOs, the State and donors; participates in meetings and technical forums at the central level on gender issues (clusters).
- Supports the carrying out of context analysis, identifies trends and establishes a strategy for the gender positioning of Action Against Hunger in the country.
- Support the representation and positioning of Action Against Hunger in gender/protection to increase knowledge of the organization as a leading voice and reference in the organization’s areas of work in the country.
- Collaborate with the MP1 team in the generation of information products, from the data collected in the field so that they are published according to defined periodicity and sent internally and externally to the organization.
- Keep track of the number of beneficiaries in gender/protection actions, as well as indicators of change in your sector for annual reporting and accountability from your area, in strict relationship with the MEAL team.
Objective 2: Operational monitoring, follow-up, and quality assurance of gender and protection actions.
- Supervise all gender and protection operations of the mission
- Ensures digitalization (use of technological tools) for the management of gender information and leads the transformation of data in coordination with project managers, regional coordinators and technicians for the management of internal and external knowledge in their area of expertise.
- Constantly monitors the gender and protection approach in the implementation of projects and ensures the quality, compliance, level of execution and rigor of the actions according to the Action Against Hunger standards and donor guidelines.
- Facilitates, guides and ensures the continuous training of all teams on technical intervention guidelines in accordance with national and international standards and the Action Against Hunger guidelines on gender and protection.
- Facilitates the correct implementation of protocols, standards, policies and procedures on gender, PES, protection, Action Against Hunger and donors and ensures their knowledge and application.
- Supports the drafting of specific project proposals on gender and protection and/or the review of all to ensure the correct incorporation of the approach, contributing and generating innovative ideas for work in current or new intervention areas.
- Designs and supports the implementation of needs identification studies and gender and protection diagnoses in Action Against Hunger’s areas of action (region and departments) (including: needs, vulnerability, feasibility, risks, etc.) .
- Guides and provides support in the preparation of reports to donors, state financiers, and general accountability (monitoring visits, technical committees) of the projects.
- Reviews and capitalizes on recommendations and learnings from evaluations and audits (internal and external) for feedback in the formulation of new proposals.
Objective 3: Support the implementation of the gender strategy of the mission and at the regional level, ensuring quality, control and compliance in those specific activities with a focus on gender and diverse sexual orientations.
Does this description fit you?
- Knowledge in social and human sciences (political science, psychology, law, sociology, anthropology).
- Advanced studies or specialists in gender and women’s empowerment and/or child protection. Management of theoretical and conceptual language on gender and protection
- 3 years of experience in specific gender actions (organizations or project coordination and management).
- 3 years of experience in specific protection actions (organizations or project coordination and management).
- Work experience in international cooperation.
- Knowledge of the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health
- Interinstitutional coordination activities with actors linked to the gender approach and women’s empowerment.
- Interdisciplinary work and team leadership.
- Languages: High level of spoken and written English.
- Mastery of the office package and knowledge and use that ensure innovation and quality of work.
- Availability for high mobility in the country (essential)
