Project Overview:

The Pacific Labour Facility (PLF) facilitates seasonal and longer-term work opportunities for Pacific workers in Australia. It connects Australian employers with Pacific workers under the newly introduced Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme which combines the existing Pacific Labour Scheme (PLS) and Seasonal Worker Programme (SWP).

The Role:

The Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Coordinator will support the ongoing implementation of the program’s GEDSI Strategy. The GEDSI Coordinator, will support the GEDSI Manager and relevant consultants to mainstream GEDSI into the PALM scheme and implement targeted activities that ensure women and individuals from marginalised groups, including people with disabilities, have opportunities to safely participate in the PALM scheme.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of a range of targeted GEDSI activities outlined in the PLF GEDSI Strategy and Annual Work Plans
  • Provide support to PLF streams to ensure GEDSI is meaningfully mainstreamed into the PALM scheme business processes and targeted activities are implemented
  • Provide advice to stakeholders on approaches for improving GEDSI within the Scheme and how to achieve outcomes in the program
  • Support the implementation of a GEDSI awareness program and coordinate activities related to the GEDSI Strategy
  • Assist with the production and submission of reporting and budget management

Required Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as Social Sciences, Community Development, Anthropology or International Development
  • Significant experience working in relevant programs, preferably with a Pacific focus
  • Good knowledge in any of gender equality, disability inclusion or social inclusion and knowledge or interest in the other areas, with the ability to translate theory into workable practice
  • Demonstrated experience building stakeholder relationships across multiple cross-cultural contexts
  • Previous experience promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace or in an area supporting women’s economic empowerment or supporting women in leadership is desirable
  • Experience working on gender, disability and social inclusion programming activities is desirable

The successful candidate will be offered an initial contract to 30 June 2023.

This is a Brisbane based role with options for flexible working. Candidates who are willing to relocate for the position must do so at their own expense.
