PRESENTATION OF ASMAE
Founded in 1980, Asmae – Association soeur Emmanuelle is a French international solidarity NGO specializing in child and youth development. It operates in 8 countries: France, Egypt, Lebanon, the Philippines, Burkina Faso, Madagascar, India and Ivory Coast. Independent, secular and apolitical, it is open to all. Asmae’s action aims to support vulnerable children & young people as well as their families through tailor-made and long-term support for local actors who work in the fields of education, child protection and the socio-professional integration of young people.
Asmae has been working in Madagascar since 2001 and supports around fifteen partner associations active in access to quality education, child protection, social and professional integration of young people and the promotion of living together in Antananarivo and Antsirabe. Asmae Madagascar implements 5 projects (3 in Antananarivo and 2 in Antsirabe) in collaboration with local authorities and partners in the field of social, educational and professional integration of children and young people in vulnerable situations.
The Asmae team in Madagascar is made up of around twenty employees spread across three departments: administrative and financial department, projects and partnerships department and logistics and security department.
2. MISSION
The main mission of the Gender Technical Advisor is to provide technical support in gender integration to teams and projects in the Analamanga region.
He/she is placed under the hierarchical supervision of the Projects and Partnerships Manager and in functional contact with the project managers as well as with the gender integration officer at headquarters and the Gender Technical Advisor for the Antsirabe region.
The overall objective of the Gender Technical Advisor is to strengthen the integration of gender approaches within the framework of projects linked to the sustainability of social and educational inclusion, the improvement of the educational framework, and the professional integration of young people, while ensuring the implementation of Asmae’s Gender Equality Policy.
3. RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1 Improve gender integration in projects
- Improve the gender sensitivity of educational tools and training materials developed and used by Asmae and its partners;
- Carry out an inventory of the level of gender integration among partners;
- Assess the needs for integration, improvement and strengthening of gender in the practices and activities of partners;
- Develop and propose capacity building plans taking into account the needs of each partner
3.2 Ensure capacity building in gender integration
- Train, support, assist and advise partners and the Asmae team on integrating gender into their practices;
- Capitalize on good practices in terms of gender integration in activities;
- Contribute to the monitoring-evaluation and reporting system concerning gender activities in projects
3.3 Contribute to strengthening the positioning of the Asmae national office
- Support the implementation of the gender equality policy and the associated action plan;
- Participate in MER, advocacy activities;
- Contribute to project writing and program development integrating gender;
- Improve and contribute to the development of tools and practices enabling better integration of gender within the country office and more broadly within Asmae;
- Perform any other tasks related to gender mainstreaming.
4. REQUIRED PROFILE
Training / Areas of knowledge
- University degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Educational Science, Political Science, or a related discipline (bachelor’s or master’s degree in these fields).
- Proven knowledge of the concept of gender and associated notions (gender relations, human rights, gender stereotypes, gender-based violence) as well as the integration of gender in development projects;
- Proven knowledge of the young and adolescent public.
Experience / Professional skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in gender integration in projects related to social inclusion and psychosocial support for vulnerable children or young people.
- Required experience in developing and facilitating awareness-raising workshops on gender-related issues (reducing inequalities, empowerment, positive masculinity, gender stereotypes, gender-based violence);
- Experience required in supporting professionals in capacity building, adult training or leading workshops.
- Knowledge of the NGO sector, in particular specialist in education and gender issues in the professional integration of young people, the gender approach, as well as the methodologies and tools used in the field.
- Identification of technical support needs and contribution to the development of capacity building plans in social and educational integration, gender-sensitive child protection.
- Written and oral mastery of French.
- Excellent communication and writing skills, rigor and organization.
- Ability to summarize, good teaching and interpersonal skills, as well as diplomacy.

- Autonomy and taste for teamwork.
- Resistance to stress.
Practical arrangements for the position
**Work location:**Antananarivo
Status: Fixed-term contract under Malagasy law
Start date : as soon as possible
Duration : 1 year (with possibility of renewal)
Remuneration: From 2,250,000 MGA gross monthly, depending on profile and experience
