The Victoria Community Centre: Women and Children’s Space
Glocal Roots is a grassroots organisation operating in Greece and Switzerland since 2019, our solution: breaking the dependency cycle by building resilience and autonomy.
We build structures and networks that support displaced people to become resilient, autonomous and self-reliant again!
Since May 2022 we are running a Women’s and Kid’s space in Athens. In our Center we offer a clean, safe, and supportive community space every day. Children can enjoy their time in our child-friendly area, which is equipped with arts and craft materials as well as many toys to play with. This gives the women and mothers a chance to relax and take part in the services provided by our partner organisations in the Victoria Community Center. In the designated textile maker space, we offer refugee women the opportunity to attend sewing courses, sew independently. or become part of our sewing project (for very good seamstresses). Our sewing studio aims to give women the opportunity to design and make various products themselves, learn a craft and find a way to generate a small income, thus promoting their independence and integration. Besides that we offer different activities depending on the skills of the volunteers and the needs of the women visiting our centre.

- Provide appropriate support and guidance to the women and children in our space
