A member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the CRF is an international organization which has aimed for more than 150 years to support the most vulnerable populations.

Its International Operations Department (DOI) is present in around twenty countries, particularly in Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the Indian Ocean and Caribbean area via its Regional Intervention Platforms (PIR). Its areas of intervention are varied: health, water and sanitation, food security and livelihoods, psychosocial support and disaster risk reduction, both in emergency contexts and with a view to population recovery. after a crisis.

The MOCAPE department (Middle East, Caribbean, Indian Ocean, Asia-Pacific and Europe) is made up of three geographic desks: Middle East, Europe (Ukrainian crisis) and Oceans. These three desks support delegations, where teams implement development projects and/or in response to regional crises, in support of host national societies, in order to alleviate the impact of conflicts and social crises on the most vulnerable populations. vulnerable.

Description of the internship:

The intern will perform his/her duties within the MOCAPE department, under the responsibility of the desk managers. In liaison with the Technical Expertise, Health, Logistics and Finance Departments of the Directorate, the main mission of the intern will be to provide permanent support to delegations and headquarters in order to ensure the smooth running of projects.

The intern will assist the three desk managers and the delegations in the operational monitoring of projects.

He/she will contribute to the proper functioning of delegations, the circulation of information within headquarters and between headquarters and the field, and also ensure the daily monitoring of files relating to the MOCAPE zone.

He/she will be in direct contact with delegations when necessary.

Main goals :

  • Knowledge of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, its functioning, and its specificities;
  • Discovery of the humanitarian world, the functioning, the role and responsibilities of the headquarters of an international organization;
  • Knowledge and practice of the international project cycle;
  • Knowledge of the programs implemented by the delegations in the area, and the different areas of expertise of the FIU;
  • Introduction to administrative, financial management, human resources, and logistical means of an international mission and international projects,
  • Knowledge of project management tools specific to the humanitarian world;
  • Knowledge of donors in the area;
  • Monitoring the evolution of the context of the area, and maintaining diligent monitoring;
  • Capitalization and archiving of information concerning the programs and the MOCAPE zone.

Main tasks :

Support for desk activities:

  • Internal communication, creation and updating of country and project files, production of presentation materials, contextual and humanitarian analyzes
  • Participation in desk meetings / preparation of support meetings, agendas and meeting minutes
  • Administrative missions, in conjunction with the administrative assistant of the geographic department as needed (archiving, processing of financial requests, signatures, etc.)
  • Writing letters to partners

Project monitoring:

  • Monitoring reporting deadlines in collaboration with the field
  • Updating project monitoring tools (dashboard, database, signature monitoring)
  • Participation in proofreading and/or writing project proposals and reports (intermediate and final)
  • Ad hoc missions according to operational needs (new project, donor request, etc.)

Departures/missions of delegates in the field:

  • In support of desks and the admin assistant, support in the preparation of missions and reception of new delegates (updating welcome booklets according to the particularities of the positions, briefs and debriefs, TOR and other tasks in office needs )

Transverse:

  • Cross-functional missions linked to other DOI units may be added depending on needs and opportunities.

In addition to support for taking up the position, the trainee will have access to training provided at headquarters: donors and their procedures, preparation for the departure of delegates (PAD), etc. Where possible, and depending on the workload, access to training in life-saving actions and introduction to field management software are also offered.

Required profile :

  • Master’s degree in International Relations, Humanitarian Affairs, Development and Cooperation or equivalent training
  • French/English: excellent spoken and written level
  • Very good writing, analysis and synthesis skills
  • Spirit of initiative and autonomy
  • Sense of organization and rigor
  • Mastery or basic knowledge of the Arabic/Romanian/Ukrainian/Spanish language is an asset
  • Very good interpersonal skills, knowing how to work in a team and with multiple contacts,
  • Dynamism, resistance to stress, ability to work urgently and on multiple files simultaneously
  • Ability to adapt in a changing professional context
  • Mastery of computer tools (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, Canva and Google suite)
  • Knowledge of the main tools of project management (logical framework, timeline, knowledge of developing a project plan).
  • Strong motivation to work in humanitarian work and knowledge of humanitarian actors and the international cooperation environment
  • Knowledge of the International Red Cross Movement preferred
  • Available on the desired date.

Practical arrangements: 6-month internship, full-time. Mandatory internship agreement.

Compensation of around €600/month (€4.05/hour) + employer contribution to the company restaurant + 50% coverage of the RATP

Basis 35h/week.

2 days off/month.

Desired arrival date: 04/08/2024

The internship is available from April for a period of 6 months
