At the DG ECHO regional office in Dakar, the WASH Shelter Program Manager will be responsible for advising DG ECHO’s operational activities in the areas of water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH) and shelter. and establishments and ensure that DG ECHO’s policy priorities on these areas are well reflected in the funded programmes, with particular attention to sustainable outcomes, environment and disaster resilience features. In order to facilitate and maximize the impact of humanitarian operations funded by the European Union, the WASH Abri program manager will carry out regular missions to identify and assess humanitarian needs, evaluate the programs and actions proposed by WASH and Abri & Establishments and monitor projects in countries in the West and Central Africa region. He/she will ensure consistency of actions with the policies, modalities and practices of DG ECHO and work in close coordination with relevant stakeholders, including EU delegations and partners, international and local. The WASH Shelter Program Manager must be prepared to respond to an ongoing or evolving crisis in any other region of the world upon request. The WASH Shelter program manager may also be called upon to contribute to strengthening relationships with strategic partners, particularly by providing feedback on the partners’ own strategies/policies in the area of WASH Shelter & Establishments.
