Global Activism Coordinator at Amnesty International

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Global Activism team leads on pioneering campaigning and activism approaches, tools and tactics to strengthen activism communities and diversify the AI movement for human rights impact. This role will support and coordinate the projects of the team in making Amnesty International more effective on its activism and more impactful on its campaigning.

JOB PURPOSE

Develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate projects within the Activism team’s programme of work; in particular the development of effective membership activism and public engagement for human rights impact; campaign capacity building and activism and innovation.

ABOUT YOU

You need to be an enthusiast expert on activism and have good experience of working in an international organisation. You need to have good capacity building and communication skills. You need to be a good team player, in order to work across teams and themes. Ultimately you need to be driven by making an impact on human rights through effective campaigning and activism.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of campaigning and activism capacity building initiatives.
  • Lead on the organisation of activism and capacity building events.
  • Develop and promote resources on activism and campaigning.
  • Coordinate communication platforms and tools for AI’s activism community and networks and support information sharing.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Extensive training and presentation skills, and experience in facilitating and coordinating workshops and international meetings.
  • Excellent communications skills and experience of writing materials concisely.
  • Direct experience of working with campaigning networks, facilitating skill-sharing, and organising campaigning and capacity building events.
  • Experience of advising and supporting activists, young people, or community groups in the development of their activism.
