Background and Organizational Context
The Supporter Engagement Section (SES) sits within the Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) and serves departments within Division of External Relations (DER), PSP and the wider organization.
The Global Analytics and Activation function within Digital Marketing and Regional Engagement team under SES works primarily with Google stack of tools: Analytics 360 Tag manager 360, but also the UTM builder platform and cookie management platforms. The team performs management and ad hoc analysis, and the integration between the analytics tools and digital ad platforms including Google Ads, Google Marketing Platform, Facebook ect.
Purpose and Scope of Assignment
The incumbent will work with key stakeholders at HQ, in regional offices and country offices to advice, develop and implement best practice digital analytics across our international web presence. Specific attention will be given to ensuring high quality engagement measures are in place internationally.
This will include:
• Engagement with content
• Micro conversions like email marketing signups and petition signatures
• Advocacy actions
• Global campaigns
• Donations
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Digital Strategy and Planning Officer, the position is responsible to:
• Coordinate global network of clients across fundraising, advocacy and other programs, ensuring a standardized data convention.
• Act as global focal point for digital analytics and measurements and work with regional and local UNHCR offices internal and external experts on tagging and measurement implementations.
• Support global network with outreach, knowledge management and training on digital data measurement and analytics.
• Respond to ad hoc tracking and reporting requests from various UNHCR departments and provide ongoing support including measurement implementation for new websites, mobile apps, and marketing campaigns primarily via Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics setup.
• Translate PSP marketing teams and other internal stakeholder questions into KPIs and metrics that can be measured from tracking user interactions with web and mobile app properties.
• Serve as digital measurement architect by evolving and managing the web and apps measurement framework, solution blueprints and reference documentation which translates use cases across web and app properties into descriptions of tracking property setup, event structures, custom dimensions, and integrations with other product. Covering both Google Analytics 360 (GA4) tracking as well as all ad platform tracking tags and other tracking related tag implementations.
• Guide and monitor digital campaign colleagues’ usage of UNHCRs digital marketing naming conventions for product codes and tracked URLs (UTM codes).
• Create, manage, and enforce digital analytics tagging standards to ensure robust and consistent data is captured for analysis.
• Develop, maintain, and implement naming conventions with Google Analytics 360 and Google Tag Manager
• Assist in standardizing tracking across all digital collateral, supporting and advising developers and agencies at HQ and in national offices on tag implementation best practices in Google Tag Manager including e-commerce tracking and event tracking in Google Analytics, and other tools (for example Facebook Ads Manager, Google Marketing Platform, TikTok)
• Support Data Quality Officer to identify and respond to systematic data discrepancies and implementation issues.
• Assist in further developing the digital properties measurement infrastructure with new data collection in coordination with analysis and reporting functions within regions and HQ.
• Ensure tracking for ad-hoc campaign sites and implementations (e.g video tracking, form tracking).
• Maintain oversight on external trends potentially impacting web/app measurement and ad tracking and update UNHCRs digital measurement architecture accordingly.
• Responsible for implementing privacy related features regarding 3rd party analytics and ad vendors in close collaboration with DS, FinTech, DPO and LAS
• Responsible for securing and optimizing the UNHCRs measurement architecture by using the newest standard for server-side data processing and similar (GTM Server side, Facebook conversions API ect.)
• Manage and service the structure of search console platforms to organize and view UNHCRs results on global search engines. The role will also support all teams with access and insights to this type of platform.
The role will also be taking care of:
• Search engine console account admin
• Vendor and contract management for digital analytics and tag management platforms
• Vendor and contract management for UTM builder platforms
• Vendor and contract management for GMP Ad platforms
• Vendor and contract management for CMPs (Cookie Management Platforms) like OneTrust
Monitoring and Progress Controls
• Complete UNHCRs migration from GA Universal Analytics to GA4 for all UNHCR websites
• Develop, maintain, and onboard server side tagging where applicable.
• Provide support on measurement implementation across all HQ teams and UNHCR offices working with digital communication.
• Complete and updated documentation for the global tag management and measurement
• implementation.
• Capacity building and training for Google Analytics 4 are developed and delivered across the organization.
• Improvement in naming convention compliance from digital communication offices and web analytics data quality.
Qualifications and Experience
Education (Level and area of required and/or preferred education)
• University degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Business Administration or Marketing, or a related field – data science and digital marketing qualifications preferred.
• Recent Google Analytics Certification for GA4 is strongly preferred.
Work Experience
• 6 years relevant experience with bachelor’s degree; or 5 years with master’s or equivalent or higher degree
• Experience with Google Analytics and Google Tag manager set up for large websites is preferrable.
• Experience working with large data sets in a Bl analysis tool and/or stats packages {e.g, Google Big Query, MS PowerBI, R, Python, SAS, MS Excel) desirable.
• Experience with SQL and JavaScript is desirable.
• Familiarity with web development technologies (JavaScript, HTML)
Key Competencies
• Mastering web tracking technology using Google products. GA4, Google Analytics 360, Google tag manager.
• Strong background working with web analytics and data analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
• Fluency in written and oral English is required.
• Knowledge of another UN language desirable.
Location and Conditions
The successful candidate will be based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
