Global Citizenship Youth Engagement Coordinator At GOAL

GOAL, an international humanitarian organisation operational in 14 countries world-wide, is seeking a Global Citizenship Youth Engagement Coordinator. The purpose of the role is to support the development and delivery of GOAL’s Global Citizenship strategy with a focus on engaging and empowering young people to understand and take action on global challenges related to GOAL’s work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase GOAL’s engagement with young people in Ireland around Global Citizenship in line with GOAL’s Global Citizenship Strategy
  • Coordinate and deliver GOAL’s Global Youth (GGY) Programme including identifying, recruiting and retaining youth members on an annual basis and in partnership with identified GOAL Programme Countries
  • Develop curricula and resource materials for the Global Youth Programme to support building skills that allow programme and network members to contribute to the achievement of public engagement targets
  • Responsible for facilitation, communication and logistical support for all activities of GOAL’S Global Youth Programme
  • Identify, foster and strengthen relationships with individuals, national youth groups, third level institutions and societies and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and coordinate GOAL’s Global Youth Network and ensure member’s engagement and delivery of set targets including inclusion in Public Engagement campaign and delivery of outreach events.
  • Support the development and delivery of Global Citizenship’s public engagement strategy and annual campaigns ensuring full integration of Global Youth activities within wider public engagement activities
  • Support delivery of GOAL’s Global Citizenship Education programme working closely with GOAL’s Global Citizenship Education Coordinator
  • Facilitation external talks and workshops fostering enhanced Global Citizenship
  • Ensure at all times best practice in child protection and welfare standards are adhered to.
  • Develop robust monitoring and evaluation tools in order to review the effectiveness of the programme at all stages of development and implementation, and adjust the vision for the future of the programme accordingly.
  • Participate as a member of the GOAL team in team meetings, project meetings and other forums.
  • Carry out such other duties as may reasonably be requested by the Global Citizenship Manager.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Passionate about young people, Global Citizenship, international development and social justice issues.
  • Degree or equivalent in community development, youth work, international development or related disciplines or evidence of comparable professional or volunteer experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in co-ordinating, developing and implementing programmes relating to youth engagement / youth networks
  • Experience of working with young people and developing and fostering youth networks essential with proven ability to lead and inspire young people
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Capacity to work both on their own initiative and as part of a small team.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritise own workload and work with flexibility, initiative and imagination.
  • Excellent IT Skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Note: As an organisation who works closely with children and youth GOAL has a comprehensive Child Protection Policy. Any offer of work is subject to standard Garda vetting.
