Are you a visionary leader with a passion for making a significant impact? The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking an innovative Global Fundraising Director to lead and expand our portfolio of individual donors around the world, whose generosity enables us to provide lifesaving assistance in conflicts across 40 countries.
About the Role:
As the Global Fundraising Director, you will be at the helm of NRC’s mission to increase unearmarked funding, the gold standard that empowers us to undertake crucial activities often overlooked by institutional donors. You will be responsible for driving the strategic growth of our individual fundraising capacity in existing markets and leading our expansion into new ones. This is a truly global role requiring leadership that can drive results in multiple cultures, compliance regimes, embracing traditional and new ways of fundraising.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overall Leadership: Provide leadership and line management of relevant staff within the Global Fundraising section.
- Strategic Leadership: Lead and execute the global fundraising strategy to recruit new regular donors and secure single donations from private individuals.
- Market Expansion: Identify and develop opportunities in new fundraising markets to diversify and strengthen NRC’s funding streams.
- High ROI Initiatives: Drive initiatives that offer higher and faster returns on investment, ensuring greater resilience and sustainability for NRC’s income.
- Team Development: Build and mentor a high-performing global fundraising team to achieve ambitious targets.
- Budget Management: Accountable for the section’s budget and delivery of income.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and maintain NRC’s multi-year global strategy for the section’s focus area.
- Financial Forecasting: Forecast and report on the section’s income, costs, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Project Management: Oversee project management and business development for the section’s portfolio.
- Action Plans: Develop, manage, and report on strategy and action plans in alignment with the department’s and NRC’s strategic direction.
- Collaboration and Culture: Foster effective teams and strengthen cross-sectional collaboration and culture within the section, the department, and across NRC stakeholders.

What you will bring
- Experience of fundraising in a non-profit or of marketing and sales in a commercial enterprise.
- An ability to think in terms of scalable business models that work across multiple countries.
- An analytical mindset that makes investments based on data.
- Financial literacy
- Ability to maintain a diverse portfolio of income streams and partnerships.
- Comfortable leading by influence
- Good communicator
- Good manager of staff
- Willingness to bring ethical and compliant approach to everything we do.
- Experience of working in a non-profit desirable, but not essential.
What we offer
- Duty station: Oslo, Norway or any NRC office in Europe.
- Contract: Permanent
- Travel: 10%
- Salary/benefits: Grade 12 on NRC’s Head Office salary scale or any NRC office in Europe where the successful candidate is located
